One Killed, Several Wounded in Factory Blaze in Aley

One person was killed on Saturday and several others wounded in a fire that broke out in a factory in the region of Aley, reported Voice of Lebanon radio.

It said that Sudanese national, Seifeddine Seif al-Safi, was killed in the blaze that was caused by a gas canister explosion on Saturday morning.

Civil defense teams have since headed to the area to try to put out the fire.

The fire broke out at the Badawi confectionery factory on the Aley main road.

The National News Agency said that the blaze may have been caused by a gas leak or electrical wire friction.

The wounded include Shadi Munthir, Mouwaffaq Abdul Aziz, Moahmmed Abul Qataa, Wael Ghraizi, Talal al-Aridi, Abi Yazid Mohammed, Kamil Shalfin, and Hassan Ahmed Khaled.

Nasser Nassib Sheheb from the civil defense team was also wounded while attempting to extinguish the blaze.
