Five Suspects in Police Custody after 1 Dies in Aley Dispute

Five people suspected of involvement in a personal dispute that left one person dead in Aley district were handed over to the Internal Security Forces on Thursday, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said R.Gh. M.M. T.G., K.M. and A.Sh. were handed over to the Intelligence Branch, a day after the dispute that broke out in the town of Qabrshmoun turned into a gunfight and knife-stabbing.

A lovesick young man has shot and wounded his girlfriend in the Mount Lebanon area of Aley before turning the weapon on himself, media reports said on Sunday.

“Rami Jaafar shot his girlfriend Lubna al-Ahmadiyeh in Aley before shooting himself and both of them are now in critical condition,” Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) reported.

State Security Briefly Arrests 10 Syrians in Baalchmih over Terror Links

State security agents briefly detained on Saturday in a raid Ten Syrian nationals linked to terrorist organizations, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Report: Lebanese, Syrian Gunmen Held Trying to Nab Syrian from Aley

An army patrol on Sunday managed to arrest three Lebanese men and two Syrians as they were trying to kidnap a Syrian man in the Mount Lebanon region of Aley, LBCI television reported.

Army troops stopped the group's car in Aley's western neighborhood after spotting a fake license plate on the vehicle and found weapons in their possession, the TV network said.

PSP, Hizbullah Deny Military Deployment in Mount Lebanon

Hizbullah and the Progressive Socialist Party denied on Tuesday local and Arab media reports that the latter had deployed security and military units in some areas of Mount Lebanon aimed at destabilizing the ties between the two parties.

They said in a statement: “The relations between the two sides are well and they are seeking to bolster them through constant consultation and coordination.”
