Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas told Arab foreign ministers gathered in Cairo on Monday that the Palestinian Authority will present its bid for non-state membership of the United Nations on November 29.

Following talks with Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi, "it has been agreed that the request will be presented on November 29," Abbas said, calling for support from Arab states.

Good move

A much better move would be to start peace talks with Israel, something he has refused to do for over two years.
Just think that if he and his predecessor Arafar had sat down in good faith with Israel over 20 years ago, they would have been an independent state recognised by and a member of the UN a long time ago.

A better move would be for Israel to stop stealing land. The continued expansion of settlements is criminal and condemned by the world. Stop the apartheid. Either give the Palestinians an equal vote or leave their land. Build your wall at 1967 border and expand your neighborhoods on your side of the wall.

You had better check up on your history.
Stealing land from whom ? It was occupied from Jordan who opened up war on Israel on 6th June 1967, they then gave up all claims on the territory.
Why between 1920-1967 when Transjordan (then Jordan) occupied the territory were there no demands for a Palestinian homeland. Simply because there was no such thing as a Palestinian entity.
Now Israel is willing to sit down and negotiate peace and the establishment of an Independent State of Palestine, but for over two years Abbas has refused.

yes great move. Finally soon a FREE PALESTINE ! Israel is really scared, their occupation and human rights abuse could end very soon...and they could be prosecuted under international law if these human rights abuse go on ! that would be a game changer to have Palestine voted on Nov 29, the majority of the whole world will vote yes I believe. The Apartheid Israel will need to change its policies.
