Alfa mobile network has launched the “Army Line,” an exclusive offer to the Lebanese Army with preferential rates on its calls, SMS and data, the state-run National News Agency said Wednesday.

The company launched the product at a press conference it held on Tuesday at the Martyr Naddaf Barracks in Amshit.

The Army Line offers price cuts on phone calls, SMS and Internet access for fixed lines that reach up to 80 percent.

A number of officials attended the conference including Minister of Telecommunications Nicolas Sehnaoui, Commander of the navy seals Colonel Abdul Karim Hashim, representing Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfa Marwan Hayek and a crowd of army officers and media figures.

On his part Hayek said: “The Army Line will have 80 allocated local minutes, 20 allocated local SMS and 50 MB allocated megabytes for $7 per month excluding Value Added Tax.”

The subscribers have the preference to buy an Alfa smartphone along with their subscription.

Sehnaoui delivered a speech during the conference, saying said: “Thanks to the efforts of the ministry and Alfa, we were able to reach this offer.

“All the state institutions in all sectors should do their best to strengthen the partnership between the army and the people."

Who's paying for this 80% discount? The lambda consumer...

Everyone should benefit from this new tariff as Lebanese cell communicacions are way over priced.

Army personel get to work for 18 years and then get a salary for life. So if they start at 18, they can retire at the old age of 36, with all benefits paid courtesy of tax payer.
Now they can talk on the mobile during this period...
I agree to above advantages to veterans of wars (ie Nahr el Bared). Not for those sitting in barracks for 18 years.
