Transportation Drivers Union Goes ahead with Thursday's Strike after Meeting Miqati

Head of the public drivers syndicate Bassam Tleis revealed on Tuesday that a meeting with Prime Minister Najib Miqati failed to avert a decision by the Transportation Drivers Union to stage a strike on Thursday.
“We will hold another meeting with the premier on Wednesday for further consultations and we'll decided after it the fate of the our strike on Thursday,” Tleis told reporters at the Grand Serail.
He rejected any attempts by officials to slap additional burdens on the people.
“The premier is convinced about the importance of setting a cap for fuel prices despite the economic and financial situations, but taxi drivers are suffering,” Tleis said.
The Transportation Drivers Union announced earlier this month that it will stage a strike on February 28 to protest high fuel prices and demanded the cabinet to cap rising gasoline prices, calling on all the Lebanese people to participate in their rally.
Soaring fuel prices have exacerbated Lebanon’s already battered economy as rising production costs put more pressure on industrialists and farmers.
The transportation sector had continuously staged several similar strikes.
Last week, the prices of gasoline rose for again as the price of 95-octane rated fuel now costs LL36,600, while the 98-octane rated fuel is selling at LL37,300.
The price of diesel now sells at LL28,100.

this m8 cabinet is only bringing disaster after disaster to our country.
this cabinet should be tried as an accessory to Samaha and the Syrian regime.
the reason being they have done nothing, as in expulsion of the Syrian ambassador, retrieval of the Lebanese ambassador from Syria, complaint to the UN,....
they are accessories to the biggest plot against our national security.

Actually, you guys forgot to add that they are also trying to rig the elections to stay in power too. They figured out that they can't point out to their many achievements while in power to justify keeping them there.
