Prosecutor General Hatem Madi on Tuesday referred the case of the attack on Muslim clerics in Khandaq al-Ghamiq and Shiyyah as well as the seven detainees to the Appellate Prosecutor's Office in Beirut.

The case was referred together with the lawsuit filed by Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani over the attacks.

The detainees have been identified as Hasan H., Hasan K., Bilal A., Ali M., Hasan M., Mohammed S. and Talal M.

Qabbani on Monday filed a lawsuit against the perpetrators of the assault on Dar al-Fatwa clerics Sheikh Mazen al-Hariri and Sheikh Ahmed Ahmed Fakhran in Khandaq al-Ghamiq.

Eight people were arrested on suspicion of their involvement in the Khandaq al-Ghamiq attack.

Tensions soared in Beirut and several roads were blocked in protest at attacks on four clerics in two separate incidents in Khandaq al-Ghamiq and Shiyyah.
