Minibus Accident Kills at Least 16 in DR Congo

At least 16 people died when an overloaded minibus plunged into a river in the Democratic Republic of Congo capital Kinshasa during heavy rain, police said Saturday.
A U.N.-sponsored radio station, Radio Okapi, had said on Friday that 23 died in the accident.
"Among the causes was bad weather but also speed," police chief Jean-de-Dieu Oleko told Agence France Presse.
Road accidents are common in the DR Congo because of the generally poor state of roads and vehicles as well as reckless driving.
