Two people were wounded on Thursday during an armed clash with members of the Internal Security Forces in the northern city of Tripoli.

Sami and Bashir Hassoun were injured during the clash linked to the arrest of Ziad Hassoun.

Initial reports had said that Sami Hassoun was killed in the unrest, but members of his family informed LBCI television that he was in stable condition.

Tensions were high and gunshots were fired into the air over Ziad Hassoun's arrest.

He was detained for being suspected of tossing a hand grenade at the Abi Samra police station in Tripoli a week ago, reported LBCI.

A number of youths blocked the Shalfeh road that connects Abi Samra to Mejdlaya in Zgharta to protest the arrest.

Ziad Hassoun was released from custody later on Thursday, revealed MTV.

Last Friday, Abdul Hamid Ahmed Hassoun was killed during a police chase in the Zgharta region.

He was wanted for a number of offenses.

Later that day, Wassef Abdul Hadi and Ziad Hassoun tossed a hand grenade at the Abi Samra police station to protest the death.
