U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday said civilian rule in Egypt "should be resumed as soon as possible,” and that the country's future leadership should reflect the Egyptian people's will.
"It is a volatile situation (and) it is not clear where we are heading," Ban told journalists in Copenhagen, adding that "inclusivity" was key to any solution of the Middle Eastern country's woes.
Earlier, Ban said he believes Egyptians have "legitimate concerns," but expressed concern over the military's ousting of President Mohammed Morsi.
"Egyptians in their protests have voiced deep frustrations and legitimate concerns. At the same time, military interference in the affairs of any state is of concern," said deputy U.N. spokesman Eduardo del Buey.
The U.N. secretary general "is following closely and with continuing concern the fast-moving developments in Egypt. He continues to stand with the aspirations of the Egyptian people," said del Buey.

I think it is too early to take sides. Morsi was elected in a free and fair election and so his presidency was legitimate. Nevertheless, his popularity did decline after his win, but that usually happens in democracies. I mean all politicians promise more than they are willing to do. Obama's ratings sharply declined after his first win, people were unhappy but then he won a second term. You don't see the army ousting him or any other president. I personally don't support the muslim brotherhood but I respect the democratic system and election results. Lets wait and see before we can judge if this was really for the best of Egypt. I hope it was.
