Report: United Rejects Chelsea Bid for Rooney

A person with knowledge of the situation revealed Manchester United has rejected a bid from Chelsea for striker Wayne Rooney.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not publicly authorized to discuss the bid.

United has previously said it would not sell Rooney.

The Daily Mail website first reported news of a 10 million pound ($15 million) bid plus midfielder Juan Mata or defender David Luiz for Rooney.

Rooney indicated before the end of last season to then-manager Alex Ferguson that he wanted to leave United after nine years, unhappy at losing his starting place up front.
