Security Plan to Be Implemented in Beirut Soon

The army and Internal Security Forces' security plan that has been implemented in the northern city of Tripoli and in the eastern Bekaa Valley will soon be brought to Beirut, reported the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat on Sunday.

The plan will soon be implemented in Beirut's western neighborhood, southern suburbs, and Tariq al-Jadideh district.

State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr issued around two hundred arrest and search and investigation warrants against suspects who had breached security across Lebanon.

According to the state-run National News Agency reported on Monday, Saqr issued 200 arrest and search and investigation warrants last week against 200 criminals from the northern city of Tripoli, the city of Bekaa and Beirut.

Interior Ministry Denies Woman Jailed for Several Days at Beirut Airport Basement

The interior ministry denied on Friday a report that a woman from an Arab country was arrested by “unofficial” security personnel and jailed at Rafik Hariri International Airport.

The denial came in response to an article published in pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat this week, claiming that the woman was kept for several days in a secret jail lying several stories below the ground at the facility.

Naameh Landfill to Close Permanently in 2015 as State Set to Tackle Crisis of Solid Waste

Environment Minister Mohammed al-Mashnouq stressed on Tuesday that al-Naameh landfill will be shut down in 2015 indefinitely, pointing out that a crisis plan will be set to deal with the crisis of solid waste in the country.

One Killed in Clashes between Shaker al-Berjawi Supporters, Salafists near Beirut's Sports City

One person was killed and at least ten were wounded on Sunday in clashes that erupted at dawn between Salafists and supporters of Arab Movement Party leader Shaker al-Berjawi near the Sports City center in Beirut.

Al-Jadeed television identified the victim as Khalil Nabil al-Hanash, whom Agence France Presse said Hanash was a member of the Arab Movement Party.
