Missiles fired by the U.S., the UK and France during Saturday dawn's strike on Syria did not cross Lebanon's airspace, Lebanese military sources said.

“The army's radars and the radars at Beirut's airport did not detect any violation of the Lebanese airspace at dawn yesterday,” the sources told al-Hayat newspaper in remarks published Sunday.

After the Western strike on Syria at dawn on Saturday, President Michel Aoun said the attack "will not contribute" to a political solution for the Syrian crisis, stressing that Lebanon “refuses hostility against Arab states no matter what the reasons were.”

The AMAL Movement politburo issued a statement Saturday, condemning the joint Western attack at Syria, and describing it as “flagrant violation of international law, and a blatant attack on the Syrian state, the founding member of the United Nations.”

Lebanese movement Hizbullah sharply condemned the barrage of US, French, and British air strikes on its ally Syria on Saturday, saying they would not achieve their objectives. 

Night air strikes conducted by the United States, Britain and France on Syria on Saturday could easily be heard in Lebanon’s border region in Bekaa, LBCI television reported.

Residents of border areas near Syria said they were able to hear the blasts and shelling through the night.

A clash erupted Friday in Beirut's Barbir area between supporters of al-Mustaqbal Movement and the bodyguards of the businessman Raja al-Zuheiri, who is running for the Druze seat in Beirut's second electoral district.

Zuheiri is a member of the Beirut Dignity electoral list, which is led by former judge Khaled Hammoud.

An Israeli reconnaissance drone was on Friday conducting intensive overflights over the mountainous regions of the northern Akkar province, the National News Agency said.

“The drone hovered at a high altitude over the same region that witnessed three days of overflights last week, after which the Israeli enemy's warplanes targeted Syria's T-4 airbase from Lebanon's airspace,” NNA added.

Israel's strike on a Syrian airbase this week has put it in direct confrontation with regional foe Iran, Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Friday. 

Prime Minister Saad Hariri arrived Friday afternoon in Jdeidet Marjeyoun, the first stop in a southern electoral campaigning tour.

“I have the honor to be with you here today in this beautiful area, which maintained its nature and coexistence. Our project is the state and its advancement to serve all Lebanese all over Lebanon, especially in Marjeyoun and Jdeidet Marjeyoun. The South is dear to us just as it was dear to Martyr Prime Minister Rafik Hariri,” Hariri said at a rally.

Israeli troops on Friday attempted to abduct a Lebanese shepherd near the border, the Lebanese Army said.

“At 3:00 pm, an Israeli enemy foot patrol made an unsuccessful attempt to kidnap a Lebanese shepherd in the Jabal al-Shahel area of the Shebaa Farms,” the Army Command said in a statement.
