EDL Workers Arrested amid Widespread Anger

Electricite du Liban contract workers blocked roads across Lebanon after security forces arrested several of their colleagues during a protest that turned violent in the southern city of Tyre.

The state-run National News Agency said two men were apprehended when the workers clashed with the security forces for reopening a road they had blocked near the company's office in Tyre.

Rocket Launcher Found in Rashaya al-Fakhar

A rocket platform was found on Saturday in olive fields west of the southern region of Rashaya al-Fakhar, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said that the Lebanese Army found the launchpad that was used on Tuesday evening to fire a rocket from the southern region of Rashaya al-Fakhar towards Israel but it fell short and landed in Lebanese territory.

2 New Rocket Platforms Found near Tyre, 2 Suspects Arrested

Two rocket launchpads were found Wednesday evening in the al-Hinniyeh plain, south of the southern city of Tyre, state-run National News Agency reported.

“The Lebanese Army has cordoned off the area,” NNA added.

Israeli Drone Flies over Southern Region in Anticipation of Possible Rocket Attack

An Israeli surveillance drone flew over the southern city of Tyre on Wednesday evening after several rockets were launched for the past four consecutive nights towards Israel from a region in the port city.

The state-run National News Agency reported that an “Israeli surveillance drone flew as of 8:50 pm in the southern region's airspace above Tyre.”

2 Rockets Fired at Israel in New Attack from Southern Lebanon

Two rockets were fired Sunday night from southern Lebanon towards Israel, in the third such attack in four days, drawing an Israeli retaliation.

“At 12:25 am, unknown individuals fired two rockets from al-Qlayleh plain (near the southern city of Tyre) towards the occupied territories (Israel),” Lebanon’s National News Agency reported.

The mother of a newborn, who was abandoned in the southern Lebanese town of Qana, and her husband were detained on Sunday.

“After investigations were carried out police in the south detained Syrian nationals H. H., the mother of the newborn, and her husband B. A. Aa.,” a communique issued by the Internal Security Forces said.

Renewed Tension at Tyre's al-Bass Camp

An armed dispute in a Palestinian refugee camp in the southern city of Tyre renewed on Monday, forcing the army to deploy on its outskirts to contain the incident, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said the sons of Jaafar Hajou – a man injured during a fight in al-Bass camp on Sunday - opened fire near the house of Youssef Draz, who fired back in the air.

Shooting Erupts after Brothers Stab Uncle in Tyre's al-Bass

A shooting erupted Sunday in the Tyre district area of al-Bass during a dispute among a number of relatives, state-run National News Agency reported.

“The three brothers Youssef, Hussein and Salim Draz stabbed their uncle Jaafar Hajou over financial disputes and old problems,” NNA said, adding that the man was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Three UNIFIL Soldiers Wounded after Vehicle Overturns in Tyre

Three soldiers from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon were injured on Saturday after their military vehicle overturned in the southern Tyre District, the state-run National News Agency reported.

According to NNA, the three peacekeepers are from the Malaysian contingent and were injured in the town of Maarakeh.
