Mansour Makes Thinly Veiled Criticism of GCC 'Involvement' in Lebanon

Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour criticized what he termed the involvement of certain states in Lebanon's internal affairs, saying Lebanon has been suffering from crises since its independence in 1943.

“Any meddling in the internal affairs of a state goes out of the proper context,” Mansour told An Nahar Kuwaiti daily in an interview published on Sunday.

“When the events took place in the region, Lebanon remained neutral and did not interfere,” he said when asked about a Gulf Cooperation Council announcement in June of measures against residents who are Hizbullah loyalists.

“What's happening in Lebanon now is an issue linked to the Lebanese,” he said. “The Lebanese dispute was not born today, there have been different political movements in Lebanon since the independence.”

Asked if the collapse of the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad would do great harm to Lebanon, Mansour shied away from responding.

“Syria is the heart of the Orient and any harm done to its security, stability and unity would have repercussions on the neighboring countries,” he said.

“Arab national security can't be fragmented,” he said, adding “we should preserve the sovereignty and security of each state and not just Syria.”

Mansour confirmed that he holds telephone conversations with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem “to exchange viewpoints.”

“We not only have normal ties with Syria, but history, geography and joint security bring us together,” he said.

On whether he thought there would be another civil war in Lebanon, Mansour told An Nahar: “No. Never. I think the Lebanese are aware to what happened in 1975 and are today more keen on their country despite what's happening in politics.”

“The Lebanese know that their interest lies in having a stable Lebanon,” he said. “Everyone is confronting any extremist act or any reckless action that contradict with tolerance and coexistence.”

Mansour is in Kuwait to participate in meetings in preparation for the Nov. 19-20 Arab-African Summit to which President Michel Suleiman will lead the Lebanese delegation.

He said he will discuss with several of his counterparts on the sidelines of the summit the situation in Lebanon and the region, in addition to Lebanese expatriates in Africa.

“Syria is the heart of the Orient"… Listening to the M8 Assad henchmen you would think Lebanon is officially a Syrian district. Mansour & Nasrallah are traitors, to them the only thing that maters is keeping Assad in control of Syria & Lebanon.

You have not replied to Mansour's point in that the GCC, read KSA, is purposely destabilizing the Levant.

In fact Mansour is being diplomatic in his descriptions of the role of Qatar, UAE and in particular the KSA in Lebanon.

It is no secret that these countries as using Lebanon as a pawn in their spread of Wahhabi terrorism ... no secret at all.

mc... do you evaluate events around you? or just see them as you wish?
HA is Lebanese through and through... let us review.. Hassan Nasrallah pledged his loyalty to wilayet al faqih.. do you even know what that is? do you know that you pledge your alleignence to the ayatollah who is supposed to be God's representative on earth? do you know that if you adhere to wilayet al faqih you exert every effort into exporting the Islamic revolution?? do you know that it means that they believe that Lebanon should be ruled in accordance to sharia law?
Nassrallah is first and foremost an agent of Iran.. no two ways about it.. nothing but the air he breathes is Lebanese about him..

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 17 November 2013, 12:45

Thousands of Lebanese Islamists especially in Tripoli will join forces with these KSA terrorists and a catastrophic bloodbath will ensue ...

yes.. and do you ask why that could happen? did you criticize HA for monopolizing the Sunni voice? did you criticize them for using their arms on the internal scene? did you criticize them when they withhold people from the LEBANESE judiciary and offer them cover (not the STL, LEBANESE judiciary) did you criticize them for using muscle power to get what they want and change peoples minds about who to elect as PM??
you are nothing but a hypocrite who licks to throw all the blame on the GCC because you cant, for the life of you, say a single negative thing about HA and their actions.

@ arzak-ya-libnan

~The Shia want to implement Sharia Law? Aren't you talking about the Mustaqbal allies the Saudis?

~These Shia are Lebanese. Did you know the Iraqi Shia fought Iran in the Iran-Iraq war in the 80's?

~ HA is monopolizing the Sunni voice??? This is an absurd comment. It is Mustaqbal that monopolizes the Sunni voice to tear Lebanon apart.

~ Both sides use political cover to shield their dirty deeds. If not MP Saqr and Saad Hariri would be held for weapons dealings.

Political cover has to stop and I have advocated that Eid be arrested for his role in the Tripoli Bombings that caused so many deaths and injuries

~ The HA have many faults but they are not the aggressors and impediments at this time. The GCC, the KSA specifically and Mustaqbal now play that role.

It is you arzak-ya-libnan that fail to properly analyze the situation because of your unqualified hatred for Hezbollah ...

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 17 November 2013, 13:40

if you had read my posts in the past you would have noticed my hatred for HA is equal to all political parties in Lebanon that do not work for the Lebanese.. unlike you who thinks that HA is more Lebanese than others and pile on the justification for their every action.

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 17 November 2013, 13:44

again I ask.. where is the guy wanted by the LEBANESE judiciary in connection with the Harb assassination??
HA does not want to hand in the suspects to the STL because it is a big Zionist play... fine.. what about the Lebanese judiciary? is that Zionist too?
but its ok... HA is working in self defense... hahaha

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 17 November 2013, 14:19

~In case you haven't noticed the Shia now have the largest population in Lebanon. Your definition of Lebanese suits you but not the facts.

What does that have to do with anything we are talking about? so if they are the largest by population they can strut around doing anything they please?
and the largest sect if you include the diaspora is the Christians, who m8 gave a whopping 2 mps!!!
as i said.. go study what wilayet al faqih is.. and listen to nassy pledge his allegiance to it and you will understand how they are not Lebanese..

~ I never said that the Eid case was a Saudi case ... never
I never said you did.. i am saying you blame the situation in Tripoli on the KSA while it is the immediate reaction to Eid and the bombing as well as the being above the law with no accountability.

Throughout MENA it has been the KSA / USA / NATO aggression that has spilled blood. From Libya, to Algeria, to Tunisia, to Egypt, to Yemen, to Syria, to Iraq. Iran and Hezbollah had nothing to do with these atrocities.

is that why prior to the arab spring in Syria it was NEVER KSA that sent weapons to Lebanon to a militia?? is that why KSA TOLD mustaqbal to attack Israel? KSA has been here for a while, with a heavy hand in Lebanon, yet never armed any party... it was your buddies Iran that were doing that through their conduit Syria.. where was your voice when it was HA only that was armed???
oh i forgot, it suited your brain washed mentality.

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 17 November 2013, 14:28

I would have been the first and biggest supporter of HA if they integrated into the army after liberation. but then it was mazari3 sheb3a.. then Jerusalem, then the middle east.. next until America is defeated.. just any excuse to keep their arms... well guess what.. others are arming because HA made the choice of playing untouchable.. yes and the KSA is helping one side as iran is helping the other.. so don't point your crooked finger at one, while the other is just as bad if not worse.

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 17 November 2013, 14:28

It is you arzak-ya-libnan that fail to properly analyze the situation because of your unqualified hatred for Hezbollah ...

I can analyze the situation now,and do not need your approval on this. and have said many a times that many countries took advantage of the Syrian uprising. but that is after the fact that it was ruthlessly crushed in self perseverance of the Assad clan.
i have been saying for years on this site that if one party is armed (HA) this will eventually give an excuse for the others to arm, and become fundamentalists.
you just analyze the now.. take a look at the bigger picture instead of snap shots that your limited capability can comprehend.

There may not be another Lebanese civil war but if 2,000 or even 1,000 terrorists leave Syria and set up shop in Tripoli there would be a massacre of civilians and a massive toll on the army trying to dislodge them ... Much of Tripoli would have to be evacuated much like what we see in Syria today ... It would be a disaster of epic scale for Lebanon.

It's funny that you talk about the spread of wahhabi crazies and conviently forget that shi3a terrorists are in syria forcing thousands of syrians to flee their cities and hence come to lebanon and create more instability there. My question to you is, why don't the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait or Oman suffer from this wahhabi scurge? Why is it that only the Levant is on the recieving end? have you ever thought for a second that these crazies were actually once in the prisons of bashar assad only to be releases over the past couple of years? Do you remember nahr il bared in Lebanon? Who were these guys and why did they pop up all of a sudden only after the syrian army left Lebanon? Open your eyes and stop reading Al Manar and OTV articles. Co-existence has been in a reality in the Orient for over 1,500 years, Hafez il Assad didn't give it to us.

Boy Wahhabism is a relatively modern invention. The Saudi rise to petrodollar wealth is a modern invention. The world didn't have widespread Wahhabist or Salafist movements in the last 1500 years. It is recently as in late 90s till present that this philosophy is being pushed down everybody's throat. See here:

From the OPEC Oil Crisis to 2003, the Saudis had spent at least $87 billion propagating Wahhabism abroad at a rising rate.

It also supports imam training; mass media and publishing outlets; distribution of textbooks and other literature; and endowments to universities (in exchange for influence over the appointment of Islamic scholars). Some of the hundreds of thousands of non-Saudis who live in Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf have been influenced by Wahhabism and preach Wahhabism in their home country upon their return. Agencies controlled by the Kingdom's Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da'wah and Guidance are responsible for outreach to non-Muslim residents and are converting hundreds of non-Muslims into Islam every year.
