Roknabadi Meets Berri, Bassil: Iran Hopes Lebanon Will Elect President as soon as Possible

Outgoing Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi noted on Tuesday positive signs that the presidential elections will be held, reported the National News Agency.
He said: “We hope the Lebanese parties will reach an agreement over a presidential candidate and elect him as soon as possible.”
He made his remarks after holding separate meetings with Speaker Nabih Berri and Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil.
“Iran supports Lebanon's stability and that it stage the elections in the best possible way,” added Roknabadi.
“It supports whichever candidate they agree on,” he stressed.
Lawmakers have failed to elect a president after four rounds of elections.
During the first round, neither of the two candidates, Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea and Democratic Gathering MP Henri Helou, received the necessary votes of 86 lawmakers to emerge victorious.
The next three sessions failed to be held due to a lack of quorum caused by a boycott by the majority of the March 8 camp over its ongoing disagreement with the March 14 alliance on a presidential candidate.
The next presidential election session is scheduled for Thursday.

with all due respect Mr. Roknabadi,
who we elect is none of your business.
The same goes for the American Ambassador, the Saudi Ambassador, the Syrian Ambassador, the Russian Ambassador, to all Ambassadors and foreign ministers in the world.
We want a president by the people and for the people, not by x or y or z, and for whatever political deal the big powers are scheming.

Why don't M8 consider that Abadi, is sending out empty checques as well ? just like assiri, you are too one sided, which makes you blind. you guys have good principles, but the people youre following are liying, i hope you wake up to this fact, or else i wouldve been an m8 long ago, hell if hezbollah, was really hezbollah, i wouldve been the first on the battlefield. but they are not, just another pawn of the devil

Wow first time we call agree. Iran and Saudi ARE backwards with respect to everything.
So isn't this a reason for us to look internally to run our own affairs?!!
