Report: Hizbullah Recruiting Fighters to Reactivate Resistance Brigades in Bekaa

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Hizbullah is reportedly boosting and reactivating the Resistance Brigades by recruiting fighters from all sects in the north and the west of the Bekaa valley and offering them training and arms to combat the Islamic State group and other organizations.

According to An Nahar newspaper published on Wednesday, several youth are directly training with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in return for a hefty salary ranging between $1,500 and $2,500.

The newspaper reported that Hizbullah still hasn't sent the Resistance Brigades fighters to the neighboring country Syria but instead the party is preparing them to confront any upcoming war or extremist group that sought refuge in Lebanon.

The report continued that a number of Christian fighters requested to join the Resistance Brigades amid the unstable security and social situation.

The Syrian conflict has exacerbated existing sectarian tensions in Lebanon, where most Sunni residents back the Syrian uprising and Shiites generally support Syria's President Bashar Assad.

Hizbullah sent fighters to Syria to back President Assad's forces against rebels trying to remove him from power. The armed intervention in Syria earned the group the enmity of Syria's predominantly Sunni rebels. Assad is a member of the Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam.

Over the past year, Syrian troops and Hizbullah fighters have captured most of the towns and villages in Syria's mountainous Qalamoun region along the Lebanon border, depriving the rebels of residential areas where they can stay during the winter.

However, Hizbullah's involvement in Syria had drawn the ire of many in Lebanon.

instead of boosting the army, the Iranians are once more undermining the state.

these were not aouniyyes, these were proper christians fearing for their lives who joined because they now realize the danger posed by the Islamic State.

Common sense flamethrower means arms should be in the hands of LAF and ISF ONLY. Not HA, SSNP, PFLP, Resistance Brigades, Takfiris, Nusra.....

Like proper christians formed SLA out of fear for their lives at the hands of PLO and later on Hezbollah, right?

With all due respects to everyone's views, instead of a militia trying to extend its ranks with more volunteers, why can't the army form something like the National Guard wearing a different uniform which would in any case be made up of volunteers, but here under the army's and the state's command and control. Sorry, this is a wrong move and in the wrong direction. Now if HA or in fact any institution wishes to contribute to the National Guard with finance and material, then they are most welcome, but in my opinion, that's the best way to go about it rather than have a militia do things. Hezbollah will only add oil to an already burning inferno and those newcomers to be enrolled will be at the receiving end of the people's hostility, though not the National Guard.

The problem Phonix... is that they are paying (apparently) big money to recruit... the army pays peanuts, and nowadays...

I know Patriot, am aware of the situation, but the way HA is going about it will only worsen matters for them, for the new volunteer recruits and for us all. HA is not invincible, as proven in Syria, it is paying a heavy price there. HA is not telling us about its painful losses there and here in Lebanon it cannot spend cash eternally, these days are quite lean too. At the end of the day, we're all worried for our security and to be honest if cash was the only incentive, then whoever will be recruited will have a very low level of endurance when the going gets tough.

The international community should start by imposing an embargo on any lehanese shia holding a bank account. The terror money from these people is fueling the war in order to make it last longer. We're fed up with such a life of stress and misery.

Thumb Maxx 13 November 2014, 04:46

Ummm, most of the Lebanese Shia who actually support Hizb do not have a bank account. And many of the Shia who do have a bank account are also educated enough to not support Hizb. Don't lop all the Lebanese Shia with that disgrace that's called Hizb.

Missing peace 12 November 2014, 16:26

why shouldn't they do that? they consider themselves as the state of Lebanon and just spit on the institutions and national army....
