Jihadist Group Claims Mortar Attack on Hamas in Gaza

A jihadist group that recently emerged in the Gaza Strip claimed Friday a mortar attack on a base belonging to the Islamist Hamas movement in charge of the blockaded territory.

The group calling itself Supporters of the Islamic State in Jerusalem said it fired two 82 mm mortar rounds at a base of Hamas's armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.

A statement posted online also urged "Muslims in Gaza to stay away from the base in order to protect their own lives".

Witnesses told AFP they heard explosions close to Khan Yunis.

But the spokesman of the interior ministry in Gaza, Iyad al-Bozum, denied any mortar fire.

The group's claim is "baseless," he told AFP.

A bomb attack this week targeted Hamas's security headquarters in Gaza after radical Islamists issued a threatening message calling for the release of prisoners.

Hamas security forces arrested a Salafist leader last month, alleging that he was a supporter of the Islamic State group (IS) that holds vast swathes of territory in Syria and Iraq.

Gazan jihadists have pledged allegiance to IS in the past, but there has been no confirmation from the group itself that it has a presence in the coastal enclave.

Let them go ahead and kill each other. What could be better than two terrorist groups fighting and killing each other.

a daeshit-affiliated group now attacking directly hamas, israel's main enemy inside occupied palestine. proving once and for all what ISIS is: an israeli tool.

ISIS and JSIS working hand in hand

Missing peace 08 May 2015, 16:53

but but wait! you said that hamas were sold to saudis because they didn't support bashar! LOL
double standards as usual...

Thumb _mowaten_ 08 May 2015, 17:01

I didnt say that peace, as usual you carelessly misquote and distort people's words... I'm not surprised but I wonder, do you do it on purpose or are you simply too thick to understand what we say?

Missing peace 08 May 2015, 18:18

your logic is sick, that is all i am pointing out...

as you pretended that hamas was now saudi owned and that isis is saudi then how come two saudi allies bomb each other...

see how twisted your logic is? but no wonder as you are not paid to be consistent but just to spread your old propaganda over and over...

Thumb _mowaten_ 08 May 2015, 18:48

Again I never said that, so you're not "pointing out" anything else than your inability to understand and/or your dishonesty.

Many things would be better, such as people stopping their hatred, their propaganda, their ego and so on so that wars would stop. Maybe i'll change my mind the next time the terrorist baby-killing israeli army fights the terrorist jewish settler militias :) Now that would be an ulimate terrorist on terrorist fight.

These groups pop up randomly all over the middle east for the past years so no wonder many people think there are shady people (moukhabarat) behind them. But Allah knows best. Who can one trust these days when leaders are liars, resisters are liars, opposition are liars, the regimes are liars, the west are liars, the east are liars, while the supporters of each side are biased and parroting what they heard from their favorite za3eem or group.

May Allah have mercy on us, ameen.
