Military Judge Issues 6 Indictments against Terrorists

The Military Examining Magistrate issued on Thursday indictments against Lebanese and Syrian nationals and Palestinians on terrorism related offenses.

Judge Fadi Sawan indicted a Lebanese and a Syrian fugitive for blowing up a military vehicle in the northeastern border town of Arsal, injuring an officer and his driver.

He also indicted two detainees, a Syrian and a Lebanese, and another Syrian fugitive, for belonging to the Islamic State group for the purpose of carrying out terrorist attacks.

In the third indictment, Sawan accused a Palestinian, who is an outlaw, and another unidentified individual of tossing a hand grenade in the Ain el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp, using firearms and belonging to Fatah al-Islam armed group.

Another Palestinian, who had been arrested for belonging to Fatah al-Islam, was indicted for buying arms and involvement in shooting incidents.

In the fifth and sixth indictments, the judge accused a Lebanese detainee of belonging to an armed group and participating in the battles between the rival neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen in the northern city of Tripoli. He also accused six Lebanese fugitives of belonging to the IS and helping them travel to Syria for weapons training.
