Moqbel, French Official Deny Freeze in Delivery of Arms

Defense Minister Samir Moqbel and a French official have denied a report that Saudi Arabia has asked French authorities to freeze the delivery of weapons to the Lebanese army under a Saudi grant.

Al-Liwaa daily on Friday quoted Moqbel as saying that information about the freeze of the delivery of arms is not true.

“The plan to provide arms to the military is ongoing without obstacles or changes,” Moqbel said.

He condemned what he called fabrications aimed at achieving political ends.

A French official, who was not identified, also denied to al-Liwaa the report published in As Safir daily on Thursday on the delivery of arms.

The newspaper had quoted informed French sources as saying that Paris received an official message from Riyadh in May asking it to freeze the delivery of the rest of the arms.

The letter also requested France not to inform Lebanese authorities about the decision to freeze the delivery, they said.

The Lebanese army received the first batch of weapons, including Milan anti-tank missiles, under the $3 billion Saudi grant in April.

The article starts with and I quote, "Defense Minister Samir Moqbel and a French official have denied a report that Saudi Arabia has asked French authorities to freeze the delivery of weapons to the Lebanese army under a Saudi grant.", end of quote and end of speculations. It's an official statement from both governments, except if of course the yellow nay-sayer brigades feel that Al Safir is Lebanon's official media organ, or the organ that caresses their wildest desires.

I bet you the French are taking Saudi the money to buy wine and cheese. Those french, in Ramadan!!! All our faults, we should have gave this money to Hizbolah to build tunnels in the south. And by land in the couf, to expand away from danger in the south.
I say, as long as those Saudis are doing this to Lebanon there will be no future to any Iranian investors here, your downtown ,infrastructure etc.. don't be so happy it will never be developed and your business will loose for sure.. you don't believe me? Look at flourishing Dahyeh? Bala army bala baloot, one brave mahdi kids will be equal to 1000 soldiers, french weapons? Yeah Right!

The French and Iranian are the worst in arms business, the US is the best country on earth, they already delivered high tech arms to Lebanese for free any army wish for the newest arms the US army have in use, reality is the best ally and protector is the US and no one can challenge. Hezboshaitan, Russian tanks division Iranian guards and Syrian Bashar took them too long in Syria and can't have the job done and no where to be seen in battles on ground loosing more terrirtories on daily bases to terrorists, all terrorists are Muslims armed with Russian Klashinkov and RPG's and French are the worst ally and weapon supplier. God bless America yehaha...............

don't worry texas: M8ers just love to belittle and mock the lebanese army to justify the need of their terrorists... never will they rejoice if the LAF gets stronger or receive new weapons: bad for their militia to have competition!
so they'll always lower the army and never encourage it to get stronger....LOL
