Several Injured in Mustaqbal-Resistance Brigades Clashes

Heavy clashes erupted early on Wednesday in the area of al-Saadiyat leaving scores of people injured, including an army personnel, and triggering a state of chaos in the area, an army communique said.

The sides involved in the clashes belonged to different political parties, it added.

The army deployed heavily and cordoned off the area erecting temporary checkpoints as cautious calm prevailed.

Troops also carried out raids in the region in search for the assailants, the communique added.

On the other hand, the National News Agency said that around 1:00 AM, clashes erupted between supporters of al-Mustaqbal movement and the Hizbullah-affiliated Resistance Brigades.

On its part, the March 14 alliance denounced the incident in a statement and said that “it has dangerous repercussions on Lebanon's stability and civil peace.”

The alliance also called on the state to “take the necessary measures to control the state of chaos and arrest the perpetrators who seem to belong to Hizbullah according to residents of the area,” added the statement.

The wounded were taken to the Rafic Hariri University Hospital.

wondering why naharnet censored this:

One only has to see online (like in this forum for instance) the daily hate vomiting by m14 supporters to know who is provoking who. You guys keep calling for eradicating Hezbollah and its supporters, openly or half-openly cheer at da3eshits/nusrats terrorist attacks (including against simple civilians like in dahiyeh)...

Of course when you have such a mentality it will eventually translate to actions on the ground. The only thing I don't understand is why when you provoke and attack you always come crying afterwards and never learn. You guys sound like israelis who always try to present themselves as victims while constantly provoking and attacking.

the resistance brigade is an extension of hizballah. Its recruits are mainly poor and unemployed sunnis from the inner cities. Their main purpose is to thug around in the inner cities like the alleys of Saida and Beirut and to show that hizballah has support within the sunni community.

Thumb -phoenix1 01 July 2015, 12:40

@georgeskyp, this is what happens when people build a lie upon another lie. This is what happens when people defend a lie with another lie, just one lame address, Hezbollah and this is not mud-slinging, it's the truth.

above comment in response to mowaten's "definition" of the resistance brigade (albeit under one of his many screen names)

Thumb -phoenix1 01 July 2015, 12:23

This is what happens when you push a country to its limits. Hezbollah must not under estimate the consequences of the time when the people of Lebanon start reacting to their ruthlessness and their sick aim of controlling the nation. Let us then see what Hezbollah's rockets can do. Fact is, that it is not only the Mustaqbal public that is totally fed up, but even a growing sector of the Shiite/Metweleh population has begun agitations recording their disgust with a party that has built itself on lies and lies. Saadiyet once openly welcomed the resistance, not now, and this is why I keep repeating, Hezbollah is losing a lot of ground now in Lebanon. Time will only get worst for this party of mercenaries.

Thumb Mystic 01 July 2015, 12:54

People of Lebanon? You mean the so called "Moderates" of Mostaqbal? You are a joke phoenix for real, you can't both be praising the armys fight against takfiris, while secretly supporting Saudi Arabia. It makes no sense to me.

Thumb -phoenix1 01 July 2015, 16:53

(1). Mystic, ya khaye, before helping liberate Bachar Al Assad from his predicament, try to liberate those areas of your mind that are still entrapped in random accusations of those who post their opinions opposed to yours. You tell me where you found a shred of evidence to claim that I support Saudi? When I say the majority of the people of Lebanon, I am cutting right across the board, all sects, all the people. Most Lebanese are now truly tired of Hezbollah, of its repeated and repeated forays and nonsense, most people just want a real state where everyone lives under the law and within the context of the constitution and its institutions.

Thumb -phoenix1 01 July 2015, 16:54

(2) Mystic. Decades of rot under the PLO, then Israel, then the Syrians have meant that most Lebanese don't want an extension of occupation this time under Hezbollah. You may choose to forget this, but Walid Jumblatt said this some years ago, that in Lebanon, no single party or political entity can hope to rule over everyone else and why? Because the Lebanese will simply unite and rally against it which by consequence will bring its downfall earlier than later.

Thumb -phoenix1 01 July 2015, 16:54

(3). Mystic. Hezbollah quite naturally chose to confront and dictate, now as seen with the Saadiyet incident, more and more areas of Lebanon don't welcome Hezbollah anymore, in fact, they are hostile to it, and this after so many years and years of patience, in the hope that Hezbollah will eventually find reason and wisdom, alas which so far is failing to happen. Mystic, to tell you the truth, I am honestly worried that the majority of the Lebanese may well end up telling you people something like, "Hezbollah go home" and that might mean, Syria.

Thumb marcus 01 July 2015, 17:44

Thumb marcus 01 July 2015, 17:45

@hass1978, instead of writing just anything to reflect party allegiance and propaganda, why don't you focus on what people say? Literally everyone is saying that only the Lebanese Army is responsible for the security of Lebanon and not anyone else. The day our army is seen fighting in Syria or Yemen, then it will lose all credibility, which is exactly what happened to your Hezbollah. Now try to understand and to accept that you people are not the only inhabitants of this country, in fact, you are now in the minority if you haven't realized. By minority, you should know what I am alluding to.

Unfortunately, Hezbollah is going the PLO way. The PLO wanted to free Jerusalem and they ended up trying to free Chiyah.
Hezbollah wants to free Jerusalem and now they are trying to free mounts in Qalamoun.
The PLO was deciding Lebanon's foreign policy supported by a wide audience of Lebanese. They got bogged down in fighting Lebanese factions until Israel came in in 1982 and finished them off.
Hezbollah is going the same way. It is very clear that a civil war will be coming to Lebanon and Hezbollah will fight it and Israel will come a finish them off in 10 years. Meanwhile, Lebanon will get destroyed again.

Thumb Machia 01 July 2015, 13:55

And as long as they have idiots in Lebanon fighting their wars, Iran, Israel, the US and Saudi will do very well economically.
The Lebanese will get poorer and poorer. That it seems is our destiny.
And to be very clear it is Hezbollah's aggressive warmongering that has got us to where we are.
