Aoun Says No Objective to Topple Cabinet

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun said on Tuesday that his party does not intend to topple Prime Minister Tammam Salam's government.

“Toppling the cabinet led by Tammam Salam is not among the objectives that we are currently working for,” Aoun told Iran's state news agency IRNA.

“Our priority is to object from within the cabinet and continue our street movements,” he said.

Aoun reiterated that the FPM ministers would object the discussion of any item before dealing with the cabinet's decision-making mechanism.

“Issues such as waste management have been previously discussed by the government and the involved ministers can implement such decisions without stirring them” on Thursday, he said.

The cabinet has several items on its agenda and is set to discuss Lebanon's waste management problem in addition to its working mechanism.

The government crisis grew earlier this month when a dispute broke out between Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil, who is Aoun's son-in-law, and Salam.

Bassil accused Salam of infringing on the Christian president's powers in the absence of a head of state.

Despite the dispute, the FPM clinched a deal to discuss the government's decision-making mechanism that was taken as a result of the absence of a president since May 2014.

But the government has other items on its agenda and an environmental crisis that erupted over the weekend will likely be thoroughly discussed.

The Naameh landfill that lies south of Beirut was closed last Friday in accordance with a government decision.

The closure caused trash to spill out of dumpsters after Sukleen, which is responsible for collecting and transporting the garbage in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, failed to dispose of waste following the landfill's closure.

Sukleen said it can no longer fill up its premises with accumulated trash.

in any other country, he should resign and not be part of a government that he objects to and does not support. He does not want to resign because HA does not want him to resign but keep this government that legitimizes its war in Syria. His obstructionist and destructive behavior are nothing new.

This government is a Lebanese government created to resolve Lebanon's problems internally and with all involved.

How can it do with when certain members are there to veto others for the sake of other countries?

Its not Harriri's government for him to resign from. Why should he hand over to those who reject equal Christian participation?

Your conversation is as if the FPM is merely a guest in the government of the Future movement. Kind of like the way the Solidere project worked when it usurped the land of others and then claimed they where guests of the usurpers.

By the way if the FPM resigned from the government, and considering the Lebanese forces are not in the government, that would make it an illegitimate government with no first grade Christian representation.
Is this the government your Future Movement wants?

So when you express your support to the caporal, it is for the simple reason that he is obedient dog to your Ebola party.

Once again, everything this guy touches eventually turns to shit. Due to his infliction of paralysis on the institutions of government in Lebanon, garbage is piling up in the streets. This is not the first time, but every time Aoun touches something, whether the Army in 1989 or the Christian political movement in 2005 his ignorance, obstinacy, megalomania, paranoia and selfish greed have always led to the same smelly end.

Thumb beiruti 22 July 2015, 03:08

When he boycotts meetings of the council of ministers, that includes the ministry of environment too. See Aouni how it works? One group paralyses the whole group, he doesn't need the envoronmnet portfolio to screw thar too. Now go back to Tehran and beat yourself with a chain.

Truth is Michel Claoun Judaoun can't even topple his own toilet seat cover down, let alone the government. However we can all rest assured that if he had the capacity to do so, he wouldn't have hesitated for a moment to do so and even burn the whole country if he could. This monstrosity would stop at nothing. But it's Tuesday again, he can't but open his mouth and tell us that he is still around, a butt kisser as always. Whatever it may be, Aoun is finished, c'est fini, quite frankly we shouldn't waste our time anymore but light all the candles we have and out them on the road going to Deyr El Salib, so that majnoun doesn't lose the way going there.

To skeleton,
Inshallah. My prayer even at church is to see that day. Please be quick because we have enough, before he(with sons in law puppets to HA) makes of Lebanon the "HELL" on earth sure not by his strength or Christian popularity but by the illegal arms of HA and his popularity among HA 's Shiite followers.
