Report: Hizbullah Encourages Franjieh to Keep Candidacy

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Hizbullah has asked Marada chief MP Suleiman Franjieh, to uphold his candidacy for the presidential elections because the party is not willing at the time being to look for a third nominee other than Franjieh and Change and Reform bloc chief MP Michel Aoun, the Kuwaiti al-Seyassah daily reported on Tuesday.

According to the daily, Franjieh has planned to meet with Aoun in a final attempt to persuade him to withdraw his candidacy, as advised by Hizbullah.

However the latest developments in Syria and the stuttering truce between the regime and the opposition have delayed the meeting.

Because Hizbullah believes that the fall of Aleppo in the hands of the Syrian army resolves the battle in favor of the regime and the party at the same time, it makes it able to impose its own conditions and enhances its position on the local scene.

Hizbullah's message to Franjieh stems from its perception that electing a president from the March 8 alliance is better off for Hizbullah than electing any other candidate.

Therefore, Franjieh awaits a signal from Hizbullah and pins high hopes that the stakes are in his favor after making sure that the party considers his an ally, concluded the daily.

Who can deny that Ebola is a disease?

Default-user-icon Nicolas (Guest) 03 May 2016, 12:33

Frangieh will never be a Lebanese leader! He is a Syrian joke

Void serves no one other than Ebola; but one of these 2 men in the chair might drive us more into the Abyss, and divide us for good...
We're deep in it!

Thumb thepatriot 03 May 2016, 16:17

lol... the situation is desperate and Lebanon is doomed.
We have the choice between electing a puppet President, electing a crazy President, or void.
In case, Frangieh is elected, we get back to the tutelage era of the Assad's... thus, we become a Syrian Province again... a province to a country that is in a state of civil war... we will be at the mercy of the Syrian regime, and god Knows what might happen next... they might even ask for our army to give them a hand as far as we know!
If Aoun is elected (and he will not), again... the unknown! The guy is an unstable lunatic who sides with whomever gives him access to power... will he play the game of Ebola? Will he turn against them? No one really knows. Ebola certainly doesn't know, and now more than ever they have no faith for the man. He is an instrument to their stranglehold on the country. Side with them, they will take you to darkness, oppose them, they will take you down.

Because Gulf news such as this kuwaiti newspaper claim, always have accurate and non-biased reports no?

Thumb justin 03 May 2016, 18:10

if not accurate, what is the reason a president is not elected considering the only 2 candidates are M8 pro Syria and Iran? how accurate is that?

Thumb beiruti 03 May 2016, 17:24

Let me get this straight. Sleiman Frangieh, the lion of the Maronite Christians has had electoral hopes raised because the Alawite pariah of Syria has recently pulverized his own citizens in Aleppo so as enhancing his survivability, so that now Hezbollah, the Shia militia that holds power in Lebanon and an ally to the Syrian pariah, has counseled Frangieh to hang in there and become president instead of Hezbollah's other choice, the other Maronite lion king, Michel Aoun.
And this gives the Lebanese Christians representation in the Lebanese Government and security as well??!!!

Thumb beiruti 03 May 2016, 17:28

There is no logic here. Frangieh comes to Baabda riding on a wave of Alawite military victories in Syria and with the consent of the de facto power in Lebanon, Iran's proxy force, Hezbollah. To whom will Frangieh be loyal? To the Christian Sheeple of Lebanon, none of whom brought him to power, or to those others who are not representative of the Christians of Lebanon?
Like all else in Lebanon, the Maronites are delusional. They are deluded about their country, it is not a country; they are deluded about themselves as better than others, but they sell their daughters to prostitution to derive their wealth; and now they are deluding themselves over their "representative" in the Lebanese state. Of course anyone who comes to power by such a foreign led constituency as the Assad Regime and Hezbollah will have loyalty to them, not to the Lebanese Christians, not to any Lebanese, not to Lebanon.
