Armenia's newly elected prime minister and ex-president Serzh Sarkisian on Saturday sought a "political dialogue" with protest leader Nikol Pashinyan as mass rallies against his rule entered their ninth day.

"I am deeply concerned about the unfolding internal political events. In order to avoid irreversible consequences, I call on deputy Nikol Pashinyan to sit at the table of political dialogue and negotiation," he said in a statement.
