Aoun Stresses Need for 'Promotion of Lebanese Products'

President Michel Aoun stressed during talks with a Canadian delegation on Monday the need to facilitate the promotion and marketing of Lebanese products worldwide, the National News Agency reported on Monday.
Aoun told the delegation that the new air route between Beirut and Madrid will help increase traffic between Lebanese residents and those living abroad.
A report published in 2017 said that Lebanon was the 72nd largest market for U.S. exports in 2016, according to U.S. Department of Commerce statistics. The Lebanese Customs Authority reported that Lebanon’s total imports in 2016 reached USD 18.705 billion, of which USD 1.184 billion came from the United States.
In 2016, the United States ranked as Lebanon’s third largest trading partner behind China and Italy.

أطلقت مجموعة من الناشطين على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي دعوة عامة الى اعتصام سلمي في حديقة سمير قصير في وسط بيروت، الساعة السابعة مساء الثلثاء المقبل، احتجاجًا على توالي الاعتقالات والتوقيفات لناشطين على خلفية كتابات او منشورات على صفحات التواصل الاجتماعي، تتعلق بآرائهم ومواقفهم من الطبقة السياسية الحاكمة.
جاءت الدعوة بعدما استدعى مكتب مكافحة جرائم المعلوماتية الناشط إيلي الخوري للتحقيق معه على خلفية منشور على صفحته على موقع التواصل الاجتماعي فايسبوك توجه فيه إلى رئيس الجمهورية ميشال عون.

الشعب يا فخامة الرئيس بحاجة لرئيس يعفي أصحاب الدخل المحدود من الضرائب ويخفض معاشات الرؤساء والوزراء والنواب ويلغي التعويضات الضخمة التي يتلقاها المسؤلين وأولادهم !!
الشعب يا فخامة الرئيس بدو سياحة وسواح !! يلي محرومين منهم بسبب سياسات الدولة الخاطئة وانضمامها إلى محاور لا تخدم السياحة .
الشعب بدو يطلع النفط من البحر قبل ما يصير الدين أغلى من سعر النفط !!
للأسف يا فخامة الرئيس لم تكن على قدر الأمال لأنك حولت الدولة إلى بيت للعائلة وكيف لك ان تحاسب الفاسدين من عائلتك !!”.

This guy is too funny. Does he even realize that with the pollution that the country is generating eventually it will be found in the products they are currently producing and exporting, such as the pickles, olives and other things. I for one stopped buying Lebanese made products as I know they will be proven to cause cancer sooner or later...

The pollution in the country is and will impact the quality of the food Lebanon is exporting. Very soon studies will be carried out on the products and it will reveal the impact the product is causing in particularity the cancer it causes. I for one stopped purchasing Lebanese made products as I know all the garbage, and raw sewage that is sipping into the ground ends up in the food. Lebanon as a whole needs to understand this and fix the problem before it gets way out of control
