Strong Lebanon Bloc Backs Efforts to 'Form Govt. within Days'

The Free Patriotic Movement-led Strong Lebanon parliamentary bloc on Tuesday announced its support for the latest cabinet formation drive which Speaker Nabih Berri says might lead to forming a new government “within a week or less.”

President Michel Aoun and FPM chief MP Jebran Bassil are “exerting great efforts to resolve the obstacles,” MP Ibrahim Kanaan said after the bloc's weekly meeting.

“We have performed and are still performing our duties and we're very positively headed towards finalizing this situation,” Kanaan added.

“We are with finalizing the issue within days and will not surrender to the governmental paralysis. This issue will not wait any longer shoulder there be no cooperation with the efforts,” the MP warned.

He also said that “it is normal to speak of a several-day timeframe seeing as all proposals have become on the table.”

“Thinking of a proposal that has not been already discussed has become impossible,” Kanaan added, warning that “the Lebanese cannot bear time waste.”

“If they don't bear it, we will also won't bear it, so let things be clear,” Kanaan went on to say.
