The Syrian government on Friday condemned US President Donald Trump's pledge to recognise Israel's annexation of the Golan Heights, which it seized from Syria in 1967.

"The American position towards Syria's occupied Golan Heights clearly reflects the United States' contempt for international legitimacy and its flagrant violation of international law," a foreign ministry source told the official SANA news agency.

So does letting a terror group roaming freely around the area, and transfer of weapons to that terror group over its territories, with the blessing of the not-so-elected president. Syria had the chance for a negotiated settlement over the Golan Heights on several occations, and both father and son al-Assad squandered the chance. Too bad, now it seems like the peace train has left the station, and they are not on it. Typical backwards mentality: Never misses a chance to miss a chance...

Agreed 520. Golan has been Israeli for over 50 years now, unchallenged. It is Israeli I am afraid. If Assads wanted it, they would have fought for it. There is acquisitive prescription!

The US gave Syria Lebanon so they would do nothing about the Golan. At the end of the day the Arabs are a bunch of traitors and they sold their soles for the all might $$$. Just look at what the Palestinians have done and are doing to each other.

Syria complains about Israel breaching international law. So can someone please tell us what one calls the Syrian use of chemical gasses against its own population, perhaps breaching international law?
