The UK's Chargé d'Affaires in Lebanon, Martin Longden, on Wednesday emphasized "the ever more pressing need" for the formation of a new government in Lebanon.

"Agreed with Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab on the ever more pressing need for a new Flag of Lebanon government, capable of reform," Longden tweeted following talks with Diab at the Grand Serail.

"But I stressed too that the critical challenges of the moment demanded urgent action by all of those in a position of responsibility," Longden added, in an apparent reference to the role of the caretaker government.

He thought he was in Israel. When he got back to his digs, he discovered the mistake and got on Google to come up with a good tweet.

Sooner or later a new (artificial) government will be formed a period of peace ( 1 to 5 years) will follow, but like in the past new political crisis will re-start , and the reason is ?
The Lebanese themselves are not united; they are divided into clans by a feudal / religious system, key positions are assigned based on religious background, this has created the culture of corruption, mentality of dependence and submission which result in foreign interference,
The solution? In order to have peace and be open to the civilized world and to the multinationals: Lebanese must be united as one nation, this means Lebanon must offer equal rights and opportunities to all Lebanese based on competence and NOT based on religious background, disconnect religion from politics. In my opinion, this is necessary for sustainable prosperity; unfortunately it won't be feasible in this country, there is enormous hate between the communities.

Article 24 of the Lebanese Constitution reserves half of the seats in the Chamber of Deputies to Christians. It says, roughly, half and half. You can speculate about the proportion of Lebanese who are Christian and how any of them would prove that to a government official such as a court judge or election superintendent.
Having that Article in the Constitution is what guarantees Lebanon will not have a government. It proclaims that Lebanon does not have a government.
