Indonesian peacekeeper injured last month dies in Beirut hospital
The UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, UNIFIL, announced on Friday that an Indonesian blue helmet died in hospital of wounds suffered on March 29 in an attack on his base.
UNIFIL deplored the passing of Pramudia, who was critically injured following a projectile explosion in his base in Adchit Al Qusayr on the night of 29 March.
Pramudia, 31, tragically succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Beirut.
UNIFIL extended, in a statement, its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Pramudia as well as the Indonesian Army and the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia for this tragic and irreparable loss.
"We demand from all actors that they uphold their obligations under international law and ensure the safety and security of U.N. personnel and property at all times. Deliberate attacks on peacekeepers are grave violations of international humanitarian law and of Security Council resolution 1701, and may amount to war crimes," UNIFIL said.
