Fadlallah says Iran hasn't asked Hezbollah to support it if war erupts
MP Hassan Fadlallah announced Monday that Iran has not asked Hezbollah to intervene militarily if a new war is waged on the Islamic republic.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran did not ask us in the past, nor today, to support it in confronting the American-Israeli aggression,” Fadlallah said.
“Quite the contrary, when we meet with Iranian officials, they ask what we want and what is in our interest and the interest of Lebanon in order to support us. This means that it is we who rely on Iran and its power, and on the equation it wants to establish in order to help us liberate our country from Israeli occupation,” the MP added.
He stressed that "the resistance in Lebanon is a defensive state for its country, and its cause today is working on liberating the land, the return of the people, the release of prisoners, and reconstruction.”
“The decision of the resistance is a Lebanese decision taken by its leadership, and no one abroad or at home dictates it to it," Fadlallah added.
He stated: "This is how it was in the past during the era of (slain Hezbollah chief) His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and likewise today during the era of (Hezbollah chief) Sheikh Naim Qassem, and it will continue in the future.”
"Regardless of the leaks regarding our position and what is true or false, this position stems from our will, our assessment, and our diagnosis of the national interest. The resistance leadership will announce it in due time, but it is all under the umbrella of the cause we are fighting for, which is the cause of the South, liberating the land, and returning to it,” Fadlallah went on to say.
He noted that the side that causes war is the “occupier,” and the decision of war is in “the hands of the United States and the enemy entity (Israel).”
