President Michel Suleiman held talks with Saudi King Abdullah in Jeddah on Friday, more than a week after the monarch announced his support for the National Dialogue that the Lebanese head of state had called for.

The talks were attended by the Lebanese official delegation accompanying Suleiman, including Public Works Minister Ghazi Aridi.

Saudi officials, including Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal and the ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awadh Assiri, were also present.

Suleiman set the date for the National Dialogue on June 11 in an attempt to prevent the country from sliding into sectarian strife following deadly gunbattles between pro- and anti-Syrian gunmen in Beirut and the northern city of Tripoli.

King Abdullah said in a letter he sent to Suleiman on May 22 that the kingdom is monitoring the situation in Lebanon with “deep concern.”

“We look forward to you ending the crisis, which may spiral into sectarian strife,” Abdullah told Suleiman in the letter.

He also urged Suleiman to end the crisis through his call for national dialogue and keenness to keep Lebanon away from regional disputes, most notably the Syrian crisis.

Media reports said the president’s discussions with Abdullah focused on the National Dialogue and the travel advisory of four Gulf countries..

Later on Friday, Suleiman took part in a lunch banquet thrown in his honor by the Saudi foreign minister. Former premier Saad Hariri also attended the banquet.

Suleiman will visit Kuwait on Sunday in an attempt to persuade its leaders to review the travel warning to Lebanon.

The United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain have also advised their citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon and urged their nationals currently present in the country to leave due to the unstable security situation.

Why business is it of an old saudi pimp to be discussing National Dialogue which is an internal Lebanese matter?

I am so ashamed to have this mere shadow of a man as president.

Are you also ashamed of Iranian arms given to a militia and Syria's ongoing meddling in Lebanese affairs (big and small)? If yes, then your statement carries some credibility, and if NO then it is another hypocritical comment.

karim... you know he is not capable of such thing. If he was, he would have said the same to the Iranian terrorists to stop exporting faqih ideology and terrorism to Lebanon through their subordinate puppets (Hezb and their cronies). That's about the most useful thing he can do.
.... thanks for making it so easy for me to reply, all I had to do is copy/paste and change few words and it fits perfectly.

Terrorism was invented long before by the basij y'a Karim. You haven't lived enough to remember all the shortest trials in history after the shah was deposed, the 100's of heads that rolled within weeks, the close Khomeini's aides , Gotbzadeh, Bani Sadr, the Bakhtiar slaughtered, the students shot at from the embassy in Paris, the children blowing themselves up before Iraki tanks, all the organisations, surrogates of the terrorist iranian goverment such as Islamic Jihad, Hizbollah, spreading killings and terror , hostage taking in lebanonin the 80's , plus the american barracks attack in Beirut in the 80's, all this long before Al Qaeda.... They led everywhere , even to this day, planning and masterminding and funding Hariri's murder...Hope they taste the american bunker busters soon ..!

Suleiman is in saudi Ariabia, thinking , he can ask King Abdullah, to pressure the 14th march coalition to sit on the so called dialogue table, through putting pressure on Saad Hariri..The so called dialogue table, should be the La Hague tribunal , where not only the 4 Saints, but Nasrallah should be called to , to answer about the commanders responsibility for ordering the 4 'Saints' , and providing the with the means to execute Hariri and many others..

The Gulf states have warned their citizens not to travel to Lebanon after Bahrein and Saudi decided to move forward in their political union. Their move came as a precautionary mesure, to preempt any Farsi temptation to use teh GCC nationaux as soft targets in the terror land of Hizbullistan..!
