Speaker Nabih Berri voiced on Wednesday his “deep disappointment” with the current energy situation in Lebanon.

He stressed: “A decisive position on this matter must be taken during the cabinet session on June 27.”

The speaker made his remarks during his weekly meeting with lawmakers, which was held at his Ain el-Tineh residence.

“It is no longer acceptable to remain silent over this problem, which is everybody’s responsibility,” he remarked.

Furthermore, the speaker rejected the blocking of the airport road “under any excuse,” revealing that contacts have been and are being made with the concerned powers to achieve this goal.

The airport road has been repeatedly blocked by demonstrators protesting frequent power cuts.

On Monday it was blocked by the families of abducted Lebanese pilgrims who were kidnapped in Syria on May 22.

The families accused the government of not exerting enough efforts to ensure their release.

Addressing the recent clashes in various Palestinian refugee camps, Berri expressed his concern over the developments, stressing the need to maintain coordination with Palestinians to avoid future incidents.

Earlier on Wednesday, Berri held talks with the Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali on the latest Lebanese, Syrian, and regional developments.

The ambassador quoted the speaker as stressing the need to maintain Lebanese national unity and security, as well as enforce dialogue among its factions “to avoid dragging the country towards strife.”

They emphasized the need to fortify the Lebanese-Syrian borders to prevent the smuggling of arms and gunmen.

I hope he mean June 27 and not January 27th.

Not that that will make much difference....

"Cabinet Must Take Decisive Position on Energy Crisis during Next Session:".. Simple!! sack the minister and nominate someone who has some experience in policy and government, who shares the view of his coalition and is prepared to compromise for the benefit of the country. Not that hard really..
