Prime Minister Najib Miqati on Thursday called on the ruling coalition and the opposition to contribute to devising a national defense strategy that would “protect the country’s unity and defend it against the domestic and external threats.”

Defending his government’s so-called “self-disassociation policy” towards the Syrian crisis, Miqati described it as “the correct choice to spare Lebanon the inferno of regional conflicts and to preserve our country in this troubled period.”

During an iftar banquet at the Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center (BIEL), the premier called on all the political parties to cooperate in order to contain the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Lebanon, urging them to “lower the level of political tension and facilitate the work of security forces and authorities.”

Miqati stressed that his government’s stances are aimed at preserving “Lebanon’s Arab, regional and international interests.”

He also stressed that Lebanon is a “sanctuary for the refugees who flee the dangers of their brotherly Arab countries,” noting that the Lebanese society was the first to host and embrace the Syrian refugees.

You want us to pour more water in our wine? It's already tasteless because we've made up too many concessions to your terrorist friends.

stop flipping out, we promise we won't send to the New Syria after the elections, we'll keep you warm in Roumieh, however, Nasrallah will be in Holland chatting with Milosevic and the others.

the problem is they say something and do another: dissossiation policy seems to be working one way only: this cabinet is just helping the syrian regime.

The guy is talking sense. Of course we need to sit and talk. Talking is not a concession.
It is true the gouvernment is helping the syrian regime. But also it is bending over backwards for the sunni street. Between releasing mawlawi to re putting our glorious army members in prison for shooting the cheikh to releasing fath el islam members to "negotiating" with this assir cartoon character, to allowing palestinians to go in nahr el bared without permits.
The gouvernment is doing all for the sunni street, the chiia street, and Syria. As for the kataeb kids, who get beaten for a history book, the baalback priest who was kidnapped, the liquor stores bombings... nothing there... I call for dividing Lebanon
