Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour stated that the government cannot take an “important fateful and political decision” based on media leaks, reported As Safir newspaper on Monday.

He told the newspaper: “The government will not take any decision regarding Syria before a clear judicial verdict is issued in former minister and MP Michel Samaha’s case.”

He made his remarks ahead of his visit to Saudi Arabia, where he is accompanying Prime Minister Najib Miqati is taking part in an extraordinary Islamic solidarity meeting in Mecca.

“Despite all the political pressure and demands to expel the Syrian ambassador to Lebanon and dissolve the Higher Lebanese-Syrian Council, no decision in Samaha’s case will be made before the final verdict,” stressed Mansour.

“We will leave this issue to the judiciary and only then can we take any action,” stated the minister.

Samaha was arrested on Thursday following information that he was planning various attacks in Lebanon.

The Military Tribunal charged on Saturday Samaha and Syrian security Chief Maj. Gen. Ali Mamlouk with forming a group to commit crimes in Lebanon.

Some reports said that they were planning on carrying out attacks against various political and religious figures in Lebanon.

Various March 14 officials have demanded that Lebanon sever ties with Syria following the revelations.

this masour traitor ssnp should be investigated and jailed for all the wrong he is doing Lebanon.
this cabinet should immediately go if they do not take the proper measures.
the trial of samaha could go on for years, and what this guy is saying is that there will be no action n this, which is totally unacceptable.

Wouldn't Lebanon we weakening its judicial system by acting on the verdict without a formal investigation? What kind of precedent would that send for the rest of the investigations in the future (some of which may implicate your favored M14 politicians alongside M8 politicians)?

adnan ansour is a syrian traitor

Regardless what I think of the man being a Syrian puppet, I can't but agree with the stance that no action should be taken until the verdict is handed over. However, he could at least call the Syrian ambassador and head of moukhabarat in Lebanon to ask for his cooperation in what relates to Ali Mamlouk.

Border Security should search Mansour's luggage..
As the plot thickens, NO ONE from this Administration should be trusted

Nah minister Mansewer we should wait until Samaha's charged, prosecuted, convicted and serves his lifetime sentence before taking a decision, call it efficiency. Remind me again you are a minister in which country?

Thumb fadi_albeiruti 13 August 2012, 14:46

Electing to remain in Lebanon doesn't make you more patriotic then anyone, matter a fact there is nothing patriotic about you, you're nothing but a mouth piece for the Syrian slaves/scum starting with your clown, this case is a slam dunk , whether he confessed or not is irrelevant the videos don't lie,I bet if Samaha actions were intended to target March 8 figures or Dahieh instead of Sunni areas you scum bags would be crying wolves, grow some kahunas and speak the truth regardless of political affiliation, coward.

What to expect from a minister in a cabinet formed by a criminal regime and a criminal organization!

Missing gcb1 13 August 2012, 18:54

How do you handle the security matter without looking at the evidence first? The investigation had just begun, and if the investigation takes longer than usual then be my guest and protest about it, but why jump to conclusions now?

You speak of a logical solution, but where is the logic in establishing a verdict without a formal investigation that requires looking closely at the evidence?

Missing gcb1 13 August 2012, 18:57

@min-canada

Saying he will not do anything until the verdict comes out is not equivalent to saying he will not do anything. If the verdict comes out and he doesn't do anything, then be my guest and protest and I will be the first to tell you that this is wrong. And if the investigation is stalled and delayed constantly, then this is wrong as well.

But to jump to a conclusion, establish a verdict and not have a formal investigation as the law requires sets a bad precedent for future investigations, which then leads to the delegitimization of the rule of law and the judicial system. Where is the logic int his?

Um, I don't love Bashar, I'm the first one to tell you that he is a criminal, that is one. Don't assume that just because I criticize M14. There are still people in this world that choose not to take sides because both are wrong more often than not.

Two, did you see the video? Is the video authentic? If it is, go ahead and arrest the man, but an investigation into that must be made according to the law. I am not saying there is no evidence, but we need a closer look into the evidence. If we make a habit of taking anything we see at face value and not look deeper into it, what kind of judiciary is this? No verdict should ever be made without having a firm look at the evidence.

Obviously, you are much classier than the other lebanese, since you are in canada. On 9/11, all the commercial and private planes were grounded in the US, except for the bin Laden family and other saudis were allowed to take off on private jets. How is that for security. Bush is very close to the House of Saud specially Bandar.
