The Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc condemned on Tuesday recent claims that members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards were present in Lebanon, saying that they have revealed “the true nature of forces that have claimed to have national affiliations.”

It said in a statement after its weekly meeting: “The so-called Hizbullah arms are in fact Iranian and they threaten the national pact.”

“The arms have non-national aims,” it added.

It rejected the “transformation of Lebanon into an Iranian rocket launch pad regardless of its goals.”

It also praised President Michel Suleiman for summoning the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon on Monday to ask for an official clarification of the remarks, while criticizing “the government for burying its head in the sand over the ongoing violation against Lebanon’s sovereignty.”

The Arab League must take a decisive position against Iran's expansionist plan in the region, demanded the Mustaqbal bloc.

The head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Mohammed Ali Jaafari had stated on Sunday that members of its Quds Force were present in Lebanon and Syria to play a “counselor” role.

He denied that they are providing military assistance in both countries.

On Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry denied his remarks, saying they were taken out of context.

Addressing the anti-Islam film that mocks the Prophet Mohammed, the Mustaqbal bloc condemned the “assault against Muslim sentiments.”

“This movie was produced for suspicious goals and it was aired at a suspicious time,” it noted.

“The film only serves the interests of the enemies of Islam and Arabs,” it said of the film that created outrage throughout the Muslim world.

In addition, the bloc said that the “heinous” movie is aimed at creating a war of religions in the world.

It called on the Arab League and international organizations to take a series of measures that would prohibit the insult of religions and prophets.
