March 14: Revelations in Tueni's Assassination Should Not Be Treated as Another WikiLeaks Report

The March 14 General Secretariat hoped on Wednesday that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon would handle the 2005 assassination of MP Gebran Tueni in hope that it would reach the truth behind his murder.

It said in a statement after its weekly meeting: “Such a case and others like it should not be treated nonchalantly like another WikiLeaks report.”

It made its remarks in light of an al-Arabiya television report that revealed a document alleging that Syria and Hizbullah intelligence were linked to the assassination.

MP Butros Harb, who is handling the case for Tueni family, had suggested on Tuesday that the STL tackle the case should sufficient evidence in the matter be provided.

Addressing last week's Nabi Sheet explosion in a Hizbullah arms depot, the March 14 General Secretariat demanded that the Lebanese army issue a statement clarifying to the public allegations that it was prevented from heading to the scene of the blast to inspect it.

It also demanded that Hizbullah adhere to the law and Lebanese constitution similar to all Lebanese citizens.

Commenting on recent reports that Hizbullah fighters were killed in the fighting in Syria, the March 14 forces criticized the party for “speaking openly about its partnership with the Syrian regime that has been oppressing its people.”

“From the party's perspective, it is appearing as a number of armed wings that providing their services to fight in any area that is witnessing problems linked to Shiites,” the statement said.

“This demonstrates that Hizbullah has violated, through its own admission, the original role it was originally set out to play when it was established,” it noted.

“It is therefore important to tackle the core of this dangerous case,” it continued.

On this note, the March 14 General Secretariat highlighted President Michel Suleiman's recent positions on the possession of weapons in Lebanon.

Suleiman had stressed that the weapons of non-state actors will be eventually removed, “whether they belong to Hizbullah or the Salafist forces.”

Three Hizbullah fighters were killed and several other people wounded on October 3 in a blast at a depot for old ammunition in the Bekaa town of Nabi Sheet, the party's media relations department said last week.

Activists in the Syrian province of Homs told AFP on Monday that Hizbullah fighters have been taking part alongside government troops in fighting against rebels in the besieged town of Qusayr near the border with Lebanon.

Hizbullah has announced several burials of its members in past months, without elaborating on the circumstances of the deaths.

what some people fail to comprehend is that smugling arms is totally different from fighting on the ground officially.

I like how you try to change the subject completely .. when did M14 last have a funeral for someone who died carrying out his "jihadi" duties in Syria? Answer: never...this is a regular occurrence in hizbocrap territory

funny how M8 still defend a regime that has harmed the country killed lebanese and so on... and they called themselves patriots; now they are still defending this inhuman regime as if they were like them...
i wonder why aren t they happy that some people are trying to overrthrow this regime, so that all lebanese killed by it would be revenged!
aoun supports a regime that killed and beat his supporters thinking he was truly anti assad! but no! he is killing them twice and proud of it!

it seems that supporting murderers is the common lot of M8 people....

It is time Lebanese authority arrest any Syrian official belonging to the criminal Assad Regime as soon as they set foot at our airport and keep them locked until answers are provided to Samaha and Tueni cases... Sorry I forgot our airport belongs to Hizbollastan's basij and run by a worse criminal organization... May God Help Lebanon!

Cut out the BS ya FT. No M14 is smuggling anything. No m14 is fighting for FSA, no m14 is involved. If you want to accuse any arm mearchant to be politically affiliated to m14, you're pretty basic in your mind.
It is aaaaalways the same scenario... because m8 is bashar and ahmadinejad's baby, then you have to accuse m14 to be wahhabi or israeli, because hezb fights in syria, now you must accuse m14 of the same... I don't know if you're an imbecile or a fool... probabely both!
