The United States army has submitted a request to establish a “huge” telecommunications station in Lebanon, reported As Safir newspaper on Saturday.

Official sources told the daily that the U.S. army made the request to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority through the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon.

When asked by As Safir about its response, a sources from the Telecommunications Ministry said that the request is being studied at the ministry.

It will be referred to cabinet for discussion, it added.

A prominent source from a Christian party from the parliamentary majority told As Safir that a concerned minister had deduced that the U.S. had probably made similar requests in different Arab countries, but it was met with rejection.

Should it be approved, As Safir reported that the telecommunications station may be established near the U.S. Embassy in Awkar.

nothing but a game. They have big presence in their sister country just south of Lebanon. Do you think they need Lebanon? be real. The motive is there, nothing but to spy.

We should accept this request...God Bless the USA...

Missing greatersyria 16 December 2012, 01:09

Why should God bless the USA? For bombing hiroshima? For invading iraq and afghanistan? For supporting dictators including bashar? For arming thugs in various parts of the world? For what exactly? For allowing every sin forbidden in the quran and the bible to take place in the US? People like you will always be the lowest of the low. When they spit in your face, you thank them for making it rain. God gives money in abundence to various nations but not as a blessing in most cases, rather as a test. God only blesses those who obey and fear him, not those who comitt, support and encourage every possible sin out there.

On June 6 1944, 5000 gi's got killed, disappeared or injured on Omaha beach in Normandie to liberate Europe from Nazism. When that was done, US donated billions to Europe to help them recover.

In Afghanistan, the US are spending billions and suffering hundreds of death of soldiers fighting Talibans who are the worst thing that could happen to mankind (and "womankind").

Those are two examples of the generosity of the US. That is not to say that the US have no wrongdoings: e.g. Their interventions in Latin America in the 80's, their adamant support to Israel,...

Today, all nations turn to the US for their technology, research and education. All nations seek the help of the US to solve economical or political problems. the US is far from perfect but is a grand nation.. God bless the US.

Missing thinkingleb 16 December 2012, 01:06

hey thats a great idea i'm assuming you too love money how much will you sell your sister to the U.S. solders to use for a night. Where is your dignity.

Missing greatersyria 16 December 2012, 01:03

Lol and you guys talk about sovereignity? What a bunch of hypocrites.

Missing greatpierro 16 December 2012, 07:28

Doyle think Germany's sovereignty is weakened by the presence of the us army bases? On the contrary, the presence of the us in Lebanon can strengthen Lebanon against foreign aggression and hence reinforce its sovereignty. Only if the Lebanese misuse this hypothetical presence then our sovereignty can be at stake.

Now what is at stake? The Lebanese sovereignty is at its lowest thanks to khizbullah, Nicolas sehnaoui who is weakening the police, Gibran bassil who is spending public money uselessly, and last but not least (this will please lebanon_first) m14 leaders who are calling for armament to counter mr. Hassan.

If your sayyed then why do you have the lebanese flag? A sayyed is someone who is from the prophets family, that means he/she is bani hashem arab, not lebanese :) ya shee3a plz stop abusing the word sayyed and if you insist on being one, then go back to makkah and seek your ethnic origin, if you dont wanna live in your place of origin then stop calling yourselfs sayyed. You cant have it both ways.

Thumb LebDinosaur 16 December 2012, 08:57

Bring it. It's about time Lebanon & the US are strong allies like before. Nothing wrong with that.

Hasta la vista Hezbafista.
