Al-Nusra Front Sends Bomb Message to Hizbullah

A bomb was found overnight in Hay al-Sellom area in Beirut's southern suburbs allegedly signed by Syria's al-Nusra Front rebel group and directed against Hizbullah, media reports said on Wednesday.
Hizbullah members cordoned off the area and prevented security forces and a military expert from reaching the scene.
Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) said that Hizbullah's military expert defused the bomb and moved it to an unknown place.
State-run National News Agency reported that the bomb is made of a glass bottle connected to an electric wire.
Slogans against Syrian President Bashar Assad and Hizbullah were written on it.
“May Bashar Fall. Death to Hizbullah. Al-Nusra Front.”
Lebanese parties are sharply divided over the crisis in Syria as the Hizbullah-led March 8 alliance continuously expresses its support to Assad, while the March 14 camp backs the popular revolt.
The international community and analysts have expressed fears that the conflict in Syria may spill over into Lebanon.
On Tuesday, al-Qaida in Iraq said al-Nusra Front, the jihadist group battling Assad's regime, was part of its network and fighting for an Islamic state in Syria.
"It is time to declare to the Levant and to the world that the al-Nusra Front is simply a branch of the Islamic State of Iraq," leader of al-Qaida's front group in Iraq Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi said in the audio message.
The groups will now be combined and called the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.
Baghdadi said the group was willing to ally with other groups "on the condition that the country and its citizens be governed according to the rules dictated by Allah.”
Al-Nusra Front first gained notoriety for its suicide bombings in Syria but has evolved into a formidable fighting force leading attacks on battlefronts throughout the country.
Its suspected affiliation to al-Qaida's front group in Iraq led to it being labeled a "terrorist" organization by Washington in December.
Syria's conflict, now in its third year, is believed to have killed more than 70,000 people since it erupted in March 2011.

I like Al Nusra about as much as I do HA whic is to say one wishes both will soon disappear. Al-Nusra has no business threading any Lebanese entity not even HA.
That said, here is why one fervently hopes HA either disappears or becomes a normal Lebanese political party: "Hizbullah members cordoned off the area and prevented security forces and a military expert from reaching the scene." That should make any patriotic Lebanese feel extreme anger at what HA has made of the Lebanese state. Shameful.

Either Hezbollah becomes a Lebanese civilian faction, understand unarmed and not above the laws, either they'll get a taste of their own poison and drag Lebanon in the abysses because of their refusals.

@accordionman: I WANT them to be part of the republic. But they keep acting like they want to be a republic on their own. Here's a little example: If they wanted to be part of the republic, why would they prevent the legal forces of the republic from reaching the scene of the alleged bomb? What kind of a signal do they send to the republic?

The Washington Post reported this morning that this alleged merger is not on, but is off, for now. That it may yet arise in the future remains a distinct possibility. Hezbollah is playing with fire by fighting it. These two Sunni fundamentalist groups have a more secure line of resupply to Qatar and Saudi Arabia than does Hezbollah to Iran. The Jabhat al Nusra has been fighting Assad Regime forces with success as compared to Hezbollah which is a homeland defense force with an offensive capability tied only to the firing of "dumb" as opposed to smart or directed balistic missile fire.
Should the Sunni Group come after Hezbollah, Hezbollah will not do so well. They have made a very bad strategic error in engaging in the Syrian War directly.

All Lebanese are much better off keeping out of the Syrian War. No help to the Rebels or to the regime. The refugees are victims of the war and humanitarian principles dictate that you help them out to the extent that Lebanon has resources to provide assistance. But as for the fighting, in order to save Lebanon from reprisals, Bassil should stop shipping fuel oil to the Assad Regime, Hezbollah should stop sending in fighters and if there are Sunni personalities in Lebanon offering aid and assistance, it too should stop. Big players are already on the ground helping out the rebels, whatever the Lebanese can do will involve far too great a cost for the small benefit that it gives.

Harrier- that was the first thought that came to my mind too. What is the point of leaving a note on a Bomb if you are planning to detonate? Also, who puts a bomb in a glass bottle? (Speculating here but this is probably a prank by some teenage kids on HA. they were probably watching and laughing the entire time)

if it was a message then it would not need to be diffused. the whole story doesn’t make any sense. More likely to be joke or a prank. If someone is trying to stir trouble, they definitely did not think it through.

I believe we should close the borders with Syria completly, and not let any more refugees in, how many more can tiny Lebanon take? We already got the Palestinians. We also have to seal the borders because of all the fighters coming in and out of Syria.

The american-Israeli plan is simple. Install Ikhwan everywhere or salafis for many reasons :
1- In syria, they still want Bachar but are trying to oblige him to abandon Iran because they want to attack it soon or later and dont want Syria by its side. The plan for now in Syria is only weakening bachar not installing ikhwan!
2- The best proof is that Russia is not beeing stopped or pressured not to send weapons to Assad by blocking sea ways. They want Ikhwen to weaken Assad and in the same time Assad to destroy what they created . Did u all notice all the islamists on the world and scum are choosing Syria as a vacation destination to the 70 virgins?
3- USA is playing a smart game , this is exactly what they want, a weakened Bachar destroying Islamists while they figure out what to do with Iran and attack it soon as long as the Syrian war is still happening!
