President Michel Suleiman on Sunday strongly condemned “the criminal Israeli attacks on Syrian positions and the violation of Lebanese airspace to carry out these attacks that left a number of civilians dead.”
Suleiman said this behavior “is not alien to a common enemy whose policy is based on aggression,” noting that Israel “took advantage of the situations in Syria to carry out its attacks, exactly like it used to act in Lebanon during its plight (civil war).”
The president called on the international community and the U.N. Security Council to “take strict measures against Israel to stop its policy of aggression and to oblige it to respect the sovereignty of other countries.”
He also urged the Security Council to compel Israel to “abide by the U.N. resolutions and to convince it to engaged in the process of comprehensive and just peace which would provide stability to all countries in the region.”
Meanwhile, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati denounced “the Israeli aggression against Syrian territory,” saying Israel “is carrying on with its violation of U.N. resolutions.”
In a press release, Miqati said the attacks “confirm once again Israel's hostile intentions which do not need further evidence, and are also part of the continuous aerial violations of Lebanese sovereignty and the threats that are being launched against Lebanon.”
The caretaker premier warned that such acts will lead to "more tensions and turbulence that are targeted against the peace process in the Middle East and the international and regional efforts that are being exerted to revive it."
A senior Israeli source said an overnight aerial assault hit Iranian weapons destined for Hizbullah.
A diplomatic source in Beirut told Agence France Presse three sites were targeted -- a military facility, a nearby weapons depot and an anti-aircraft unit in Sabura, west of the capital Damascus.
OK, I like the President but the Country will not be able to completely appreciate his full potentials since if he sways away from the line drawn for him, Tony Soprano's goons will assassinate him. Having said that, Isn't it a crime for the "alleged" president of Syria to make refugees of over a million of his own people? Isn't it a crime for Iran, Russia and H.A. to sell weapons and/or provide military support to a regime/dictator who rather kill his own people than to give up power? Isn't it a crime when H.A. sends unofficial soldiers (more like mercenaries of Persian empire) to aid and abet the Syrian butcher and further endanger Lebanon? Are Syria, Iran or H.A. providing food, shelter, medical supplies to the innocent Syrian refugees in Lebanon?
I agree with you but according to the BBC the Hezbos actually are helping out the refugees.
In this article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-22369609
"Hezbollah has long provided medical, logistical and practical help for Syrian refugees fleeing the fighting."
I was surprised myself when I read that.
Like I've said before, your (and you know who you are) now best friend once again comes to your rescue and does damage control. But with all the oil and money they have no legitimate leader has been able to solve the Palestinian issue, allow the Jews to have their piece of land without further aggression from either side? Or is it because they created this artificial problem and are perpetuating it so that the Lebanese people will have not choice other than to sell their lands, leave their country so these oil rich but worthless people invade Lebanon and later miraculously make peace with Israel without solving the Palestinian problem?
My aunt said this to my cousin when he went to live in Dubai. He's her only child ;-)
How about some lipstic to beautify this good-for-nothing president-by-parachute blabber?
