Lebanese Democratic Party leader Talal Arslan remained mum on Sunday on whether he would grant his vote of confidence to the new cabinet after he resigned from the government the day it was formed.

Arslan is considering the nomination of his brother-in-law Marwan Kheireddine to replace him as minister of state. The MP resigned last Monday hours after the cabinet was announced, accusing Premier Najib Miqati of discriminating against the Druze community and other minority groups.

The lawmaker had repeatedly said that he wanted a portfolio, mainly the defense ministry, and rejected the allotment of a state ministry. But it isn’t clear if he has submitted his resignation in writing.

Asked by reporters if he would grant his confidence vote to Miqati’s cabinet, Arslan vaguely replied that he was leaving it to the last minute although he stressed that he had no personal problem with the premier.

The Druze MP also extended his apologies to Miqati over the verbal attack he waged against him in his last press conference.

He reiterated during a press conference that Miqati’s decision to grant him a state ministry was discriminatory, saying he backs giving portfolios to different sects and minorities.

Tabasco, there is no honour or dignity in Lebanon, its a word that very few understand. as you can see, if he doesnt want it, he will give it to his brother in law, as if the country is run by families and outlaws, mafias. We have General Aoun aways insisting on appointing his no good for nothing son-in-law Gebran Bassil although he couldnt even become an MP, and now this case here, dont get me wrong, i am not really affiliated with anyone, but one must see things through a logic way. i would like to ask FPM MP's , qualified ones , like Ibrahim Kanaan, Alain Aoun, Nemtallah Abi Nasr, how can they still follow their beloved General when he treats them like shit, not even giving them one ministry in 6 years of beeing MP's , rather giving it to his son-in-law who failed in elections, as well as Charbel Nahhas, a communist whicch isnt FPM, Jean Abboud ,an SSNP, how can they still follow this man while he chooses other people to represent him or the ones who were elected by the people?

Ya Emir Ya Talal bayk , alla yerham bayak ..

You should know that your father Mir Majid Arslane use to have the ministry of deffense , before Taef , when it use to be a presidential regime ..

Now that we are in a parliametary regime after Taef , you should read the taef accords that give the 4 Major " kingly " ministries 50 / 50 to Christians and to Muslims ! 1 Maronite 1 orthodox - 1 Shiia 1 Sunni .

You cannot change things . I am sure Mir Talal will grant his confidence to the government , and will end upo changing his mind .. If not , he should leave the majority and join Hariri at the Plaza Athénée in Paris .

It will be worthwhile reminding you Mr. Arslan that if you want to run with big dogs, don't pee like a puppy. The new cabinet is made out of many puppies and it hightime for you to stand up and free yourself of those who played you and made you look very "unprince". They left you holding the towel. How much humiliation does it take by those you supported to realize that you been their puppet and used for years? Wake up and be a true degnified Lebanese the way your father was, a true prince !

Joke after Joke
Ministries given to relatives who are affiliated by marriage or cronies.....but who cares about qualifications.
Who cares about being an MP for many years
Relatives come first....keep the pot in the family.
Very disgusting and very sad
Get back to reality and face the future
