New Syrian Air Raid on Arsal

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

A Syrian warplane violated Lebanese airspace at dawn Thursday and fired two rockets at an area in the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said that the air raid took place around 1:30 am. It did not cause any casualties.

Syrian fighter jets and helicopter gunships have in recent months carried out several raids on Arsal, a town populated mostly by Sunnis who support the uprising against President Bashar Assad.

Arsal, which lies 12 kilometers from the border with Syria, has been used as a conduit for weapons and rebels to enter Syria, while also serving as a refuge for people fleeing the conflict.

The Syria conflict erupted in March 2011 following a bloody regime crackdown on Arab Spring-inspired democracy protests.

Since then, there have been several spillover attacks in Lebanon involving both sides in Syria.

WAR = DEATH
Can't we have peace in this Middle-East region ?

As of late, "We", the lebanese people started to hear "voices" from "some" quarters requesting "there shall be no army in Lebanon except the army of Hussain". Upon further reflection, I started to understand the "logical" and "nationalistic" reasons behind it. If we only have the army of "Hussain", the treasury need not spend billions on training and equipping the LAF as Iran will gladly equip the army of "Hussain" with state-of-the art weapons and "ayoub" drones. Additionally, we need more police internally to write traffic tickets and "catch" smokers at the airport and in "night" spots across the country who carelessly are causing damage to the environment and to the health of others. I know some but not all of you might disagree with me, but it is food for thought:)

very official voices eh? how lame can you be RFT? i bet you're the one who created that fake account that posted
ما بدنا جيش بلبنان الا جيشك يا حُسين
dozens of times.
but yea i understand, when the official voices and everyone from the resistance says they stand with the LAF, you have nothing to hang on to. i see where the need to create fake accounts to post rubbish comes from, it gives you "something" to criticize.

Some of you but not all of you, might immediately jump the gun and say : "But, where is the Islamic Secular Resistance to defend us". I say to those, the Islamic Secular Resistance cannot be everywhere at the same time. Even the American Zionist Army could not protect Boston from terror attacks as one "poster" once said. In matters of national security, one must prioritize. Hence, Our resistance's priority (God Bless them) is now protecting our borders in Homs, Aleppo, and Damascus and many other places in Syria. Once that is successfully done, rest assured they will move on to other places such as Tripoli, Beirut, and wherever they see fit.

Thumb _mowaten_ 18 July 2013, 11:46

LOL you dream that the resistance would fight against its ally, don't you? well no, too bad :)
If Arsal wasn't involving itself in the Syrian war, it wouldnt have brought the Syrian war to its doors.

You guys were very quick to justify rockets on hermel and bombings in beirut because they targeted "evil shia who support bashar".

But now you find it shocking that a couple of rockets hit THE main weapons smuggling route into Syria!? interesting...

Nevermind that in one case there was NO CASUALTIES, which indicates it was a clearly a tactical hit, on some arms depot or something, and that in the other case there was dozens and dozens of wounded. Goes a long way to show your double standards

yeah--nice rationalization mowaten--typical of the m8 unwashed.

Syria is no friend of LEBANON and neither hizb iran--never have been, and will never be under any baath regime.

Thumb _mowaten_ 18 July 2013, 12:10

it's not your friend obviously because you hate it, but you're not Lebanon, you're just a right-wing self-loathing Arab who thinks he's a Phoenician.

Thumb _mowaten_ 18 July 2013, 12:13

besides, i ask you again, why is it that a terrorist bombing inside beirut, aimed at civilians, was "called for" while a strike in the middle of a no man's land, that we all know is used for smuggling and combat operations, which made no casualties, is a "drama" ?

please explain, since i'm a brainwashed person i can't understand as clearly as you, help me please.

Thumb _mowaten_ 18 July 2013, 18:29

funny that my answer to you was censored! naharnet's moderator is going bonkers :D

anyway, was saying thanks and i know my question was beyond samiam's capacity to understand, but it was to rub it in and show his double standards again ;)

Missing samiam 18 July 2013, 19:02

mowaten (what a misnomer)

let me put it terms you can understand:

Israeli violations of airspace and bombing: wrong
Syrian bombings and violations of airspace: wrong
bombings and assassinations by other groups: wrong

notice the clarity--wrong is wrong--there is no confusing the issue.

unless M8 is involved...

Thumb _mowaten_ 19 July 2013, 12:03

wow, i see your superior brains allows you very refined analysis.
thank god the people who make those decisions are apparently dumb enough to see much more parameters and nuances and base their strategic moves and choices on something more than childish one-word rules.

President Suleiman gave specific orders last time to the army to respond.
why did the army do nothing once more?
and they tell you to respect this army!

Default-user-icon Abe (Guest) 18 July 2013, 11:00

Because your western and salafists allies are refusing to arm the lebanese army with anti aircraft rockets as they are getting orders from Israel

Thumb _mowaten_ 18 July 2013, 12:15

yea, butcher the army in arsal, attack it in syria, make speeches against it day in and day out, and then ask it to protect the foreign fighters who smuggle weapons and launch attacks against our ally from our soil without permissions

Thumb _mowaten_ 18 July 2013, 12:16

correction:
yea, butcher the army in arsal, attack it in -SAIDA-, make speeches against it day in and day out, and then ask it to protect the foreign fighters who smuggle weapons and launch attacks against our ally from our soil without permissions
