Rudeina Malaeb Accuses Rabih al-Ahmed of Deceiving her, Says his Story Fabricated

Rudeina Malaeb, a Druze woman who married a Sunni man who was attacked by her angry family, said on Saturday that Rabih al-Ahmed deceived her to marry him.
“Everything that Rabih said is fabricated... He tried to assault me several times,” Rudeina, 20, told LBCI, in her first appearance since Rabih's penis was cut off in the Aley town of Baisour two days ago.
Rudeina expressed hope that justice would take its course.
Rabih and Rudeina met on Facebook and were married by a Sunni sheikh in July, against the wishes of the bride's family.
Marriage between members of the Druze community and non-Druze are extremely rare and officially banned by the religious group, which is present in Lebanon, Syria, Israel and the West Bank.
For his part, 39-year-old Rabih, who is currently being treated at a hospital, stressed that he didn't force Rudeina into marriage.
He pointed out that her family lured him to Baisour under the pretext of a reconciliation meeting.
“I was brutally beaten up by seven men for half an hour, then I was dragged to the town's square where they cut off my penis,” al-Ahmed told LBCI.
He said that seven men were accomplices in the assault, two of them work for MP Akram Shehayeb.
The attackers, who include the two brothers of Rudeina, one of them a soldier, remain at large
Al-Ahmed revealed that his wife, Rudeina, tried to commit suicide before over her older brother's acts, demanding the arrest of all the culprits and the return of his wife to him.
Caretaker Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi said that the judiciary will not hesitate to carry out its duties.
“The offenders will be arrested,” he added.
Even beyond the Druze community, intermarriage between Lebanon's 18 religious communities remain uncommon.
The country was ravaged by a civil war that pitted many of its religious communities against each other between 1975 and 1990.

Phil, they made her say that. She knows they wouldn't hesitate to hurt her. Here in Lebanon, intermarriage isn't widely accepted, especially among the Druze.
Also, in the Jabal, a 19-20 year old girl is not that old. The guy is twice her age, and ignored the family's wishes, and ran away with their daughter. It's quite a taboo here.
(I don't agree with what happened, I'm 100% for civil marriage, I'm just explaining)

These people are sick and do not represent the Druze at large. There are many intermarriage in the Druze community and most people are OK with it except few extreme ones. The article is wrong when it says this is extremely rare . .

Cases like this makes me believe in the concept of a united Lebanon one time in the future. Hopefully more will follow ur example. It seems like education is the key here, at university level it tend to open your mind in many respects.
Inter-religious marriages is great, but with convertion it can hardly be called inter-religious, so I hope that both male and female are allowed to practice their religion (or even non-religion) as they wish.

Maybe you dont participate because your at the beach in bikini which every ayatollah said is halal right? hehehehe The point is, one bedouin in syria eating a heart during a brutal war does not qualify as culture but millions of shiites beating themselves up with fists, swords and knifes, in several cases, they even do it to their children, THAT IS A CULTURE since its done by millions, not by one person. But hey if muslims are cannibals based on what one muslim did, then surely shiites and other religins are cannibals as well since cannibals exist all over the world.

My wife lives a fantastic life now in the UK, why? Because she never listened to the pathetic crying of the older population of Lebanon who will have you believe that marrying people of other religion is bad. Of course people speak about her “running away with the English guy” and say bad things, but I have been going to Lebanon now for over 10 years and not one of these so called “older wiser” people have ever said anything to my face about it. These people are never to be looked up to, they are the oppressive cowards that will put Lebanon back and back in time. The youth need to realise that it’s nothing to do with religion about choosing your life partner, it’s all about if he or she is a good person, white, black, Christian, Muslim even Jew, it makes no difference, as long as they are good people, people who see the people in this world as people, and not belonging to some fairy tale called religion. My wife leads a life now that the haters can only dream of.
