المعارضة السورية تدعو لتوسيع حظر الاسلحة الكيميائية ليشمل سلاح الطيران والصواريخ

طالبت المعارضة السورية اليوم الاحد المجتمع الدولي بتوسيع حظر استخدام ترسانة الاسلحة الكيميائية التابعة لنظام الرئيس بشار الاسد واتلافها، ليشمل منع استخدام القوة الجوية للنظام وصواريخه البالستية.
وقال الائتلاف الوطني لقوى الثورة والمعارضة في بيان اليوم انه "يصر (...) انه على حظر استخدام الاسلحة الكيميائية التي ادت الى خسائر في الارواح بأكثر من 1400 مدني سوري، ان تمتد الى حظر استخدام القوة الجوية والاسلحة البالستية ضد المراكز السكنية".
ويأتي موقف المعارضة غداة اعلان واشنطن وموسكو اتفاقهما على خطة لوضع الاسلحة الكيميائية السورية تحت رقابة دولية تمهيدا لتدميرها بحلول منتصف العام 2014، واصدار قرار من مجلس الامن الدولي يتيح استخدام القوة في حال عدم وفاء نظام الرئيس بشار الاسد بالتزاماته في هذا المجال.
ولم يذكر بيان المعارضة بشكل مباشر الاتفاق الروسي الاميركي الذي يأتي اثر مبادرة روسية وافقت عليها دمشق، تقضي بفرض رقابة دولية على الاسلحة الكيميائية سعيا لتفادي ضربة عسكرية لوحت بها واشنطن ردا على هجوم مفترض بهذه الاسلحة قرب دمشق في 21 آب، اتهمت النظام بالوقوف خلفه.
واعتبر الائتلاف في بيانه ان "الاقتراحات الروسية تشجع النظام على الاستمرار في سلوكه العدواني داخل سوريا، وتعطيه الحيز السياسي الذي يحتاجه لتصعيد حملته العسكرية".
وطرحت المعارضة حظر القوة الجوية والصواريخ، من ضمن خمسة نقاط "تلخص موقف الائتلاف فيما يتعلق بكيفية المضي قدما لتلبية الجرائم المستمرة ضد الانسانية التي يرتكبها نظام الاسد (...) واغتنام الفرصة المتاحة حاليا لوقف الحملة العسكرية ضد المراكز السكنية ووضع حد لاستمرار معاناة الشعب السوري"، في اشارة الى النزاع المستمر منذ عامين ونصف عام.
واعتبر الائتلاف ان "تأمين الاسلحة الكيميائية" يجب الا يكون "على حساب السعي لتحقيق العدالة وتقديم مرتكبي الهجمات بالاسلحة الكيماوية الى المحكمة الدولية".
وشدد على وجوب ان يتم التعامل مع المبادرة الروسية "بموجب البند السابع من ميثاق الامم المتحدة لمنع تملص النظام واجباره على الانضمام الى اتفاقية حظر استخدام الاسلحة الكيماوية في الصراعات المسلحة والحروب".
كما دعا الى "اعادة نشر الاسلحة الثقيلة (للنظام) بعيدا عن المراكز السكانية وحظر استخدامها لقصف المدن والقرى السورية".
ويواجه مقاتلو المعارضة نقصا في التسليح النوعي في مواجهة القوة النارية الضخمة للقوات النظامية المرتكزة في شكل اساسي على سلاح الطيران.
وطالب الائتلاف "الاشقاء العرب ومجموعة اصدقاء سوريا بتعزيز قدرات المعارضة العسكرية لتتمكن من تحييد سلاح جو نظام الاسد ودباباته لاجبار النظام على انهاء حملته السياسي وقبول حل سياسي يؤدي الى التحول الديموقراطي في سوريا".

That is not how the likes of Assad operate. Make no mistake had he used them in a large scale operation he would have given the West a cases belli to immediately pounce on him militarily and end his rule for sure. He is a dictator but that does not make him stupid.
He tested the waters about a dozen times with small scale chemical attacks and when he saw the muted response from the West he thought he can get away with a significantly agree deployment of CW. As usual, he miscalculated badly and Russia rushed to his aid out of self interest when it was certain that US armed intervention was real and imminent.
While other spin analysis of the circumstances make some feel good, the fact remains Assad opted for CW use because he was unable to subdue the rebels. If he were, he would not have needed the I fervent ion of HA, would he?

FSA opposition needs to formally do something about the Christian villages in Syria being ransacked, where there are no weapons and military. I mean this is really hurting their credibility across the world that they are supposedly a legitimate opposition, but do such cowardly, and horrific things. Shame on them for asking and demanding anything until they get some control and organization.
