إسقاط تهمة "الاتجار بالبشر" عن أميرة سعودية في أميركا

أسقطت محكمة أمريكية تهمة "الاتجار بالبشر" عن الأميرة السعودية مشاعل العيبان في ولاية كاليفورنيا الأميركية.
وأعلن الجمعة عن إسقاط التهمة التي تصل عقوبتها إلى 12 سنة سجن في حال الإدانة.
وقد قدمت لائحة الاتهام ضد الأميرة بعد أن تقدمت خادمتها الكينية بشكوى ضدها متهمة إياها بمصادرة جواز سفرها وإجبارها على العمل ساعات طويلة دون أن تتقاضي مقابلا ماديا لذلك.
وقال محامي الدفاع ان القضية كانت مجرد احتيال بهدف ابتزاز الأموال.
وقال الادعاء إن الخادمة هربت من بيت مخدومتها وصعدت إلى حافلة، وفي الحافلة أخبرت أحد الركاب بقصتها وقام الراكب بمساعدتها على تقديم شكوى.
واعتقلت السلطات الأميرة السعودية مطلع شهر تموز الماضي قبل أن تفرج عنها بكفالة قدرها 5 ملايين دولار.

The prosecutors got too greedy here. The charges they brought is "human trafficking". There is a burden of proof in U.S. Criminal Courts for the prosecution to meet which is "beyond the reasonable doubt". This Kenyan woman with her own cell phone provided by her employer (which is very easily confirmed from the phone company records) and freedom to shop at local malls provides more than enough supporting evidence eto acquit her of "these" charges. May be the State should have brought lesser/minor charges which looks like would have been a win win situation for the prosecutor. This tells you that the American "people" do not tolerate what your are accusing of the U.S. in general.

Yes indeed; agreed on all counts. They don't seem to care much for it it seems. Well, at least I suppose now the maid would probably get naturalized as a result or some such. Here's hoping she sues for other charges.

Or the Princess sues both the Kenyan for false accusations and the Orange County opportunistic prosecutor--who was in search of publicity to propel a political career in a country where one rises on the misery of others. What this story reveals, above all else, is that too many people at all levels grovel after those with cash. Instead, everyone ought to prefer honest work. Ah, one can dream, but in 1.75 b years, when the Sun will burn earth, all of this will be for naught...
