President Michel Aoun has met at Baabda palace the newly appointed UNIFIL Force Commander Maj. Gen. Stefano Del Col, to whom he maintained Lebanon's readiness to facilitate the peacekeepers' mission and the implementation of UN resolution 1701, the National News Agency reported on Thursday.

“Lebanon is ready to provide whatever helps the UNIFIL carry out its mission of preserving security and stability in the south, and implementing UN Security Council's resolution 1701," Aoun told Del Col.

Highlighting the importance of extending the UNIFIL's mandate during a U.N. Security Council session in New York later this month, Aoun stressed that the “peacekeepers' term and scope of operations should not be modified.”

Highlighting the repetitive Israeli violations of international resolutions, Aoun said that "Lebanon is looking forward for the contribution of the UNIFIL to putting an end to the breaches."

For his part, Del Col highlighted the importance of coordination between the UNIFIL and the Lebanese army to preserve calm and security in the southern border region.

A deserter meeting a real general. Must be quite odd, I wonder what the Italian general thinks of Lebanon, a country which promoted the deserter to the rank of president. What a banana republic!

I have the utmost respect and deepest admiration for general aoun who is now president and immam for 'Highlighting the repetitive Israeli violations of international resolutions' and for reiterating that “Lebanon is ready to provide whatever helps the UNIFIL carry out its mission" including beating up and disarming UNFIL soldiers in the south.

"peacekeepers term and scope of operations should not be modified."

Exactly! no matter how much the American Israeli enemy insist to make changes on its terms thus favoring Israel ad causing harm on Lebanon and its resistence.

You are consistent if nothing else batriotic.
Last week you and your leadership as they were in the past against the UNIFIL. Your comment supporting the quisling's statement means you support UNIFIL's role in protection of Lebanon. Do you never stop and question what you say or maybe your one of those religious zealots who refuses to be believe in a mirror?
A hypocrite is a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue sounds familiar huh?
