Kuwait urged all nationals currently present on Lebanese territories to leave the country “immediately.”

“All the Kuwaiti citizens currently in Lebanon should leave amid fears that the security situation might deteriorate in Lebanon due to the swift developments in Syria,” a source in the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said.

The source demanded all Kuwaitis in Lebanon to contact the embassy on the following numbers: 00961-70056666 / 00961-71007748.

The travel warning advisory was made following calls by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar on their citizens to leave Lebanon immediately.

Al-Meqdad clan kidnapped on Tuesday over 20 Syrian nationals, who allegedly belong to the Free Syrian Army, in addition to a Turkish national in tit-for-tat kidnappings after the Free Syrian Army detained Hassan Salim al-Meqdad earlier this week.

Some family members also threatened to kidnap Saudi and Qatari nationals.

However, Maher al-Meqdad, the spokesperson of the family, told MTV that the “family respects the Gulf States’ nationals in Lebanon and they are not on our target list.”
