Israel's Peres Urges Arab Intervention in Syria

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Israeli President Shimon Peres, delivering an historic address to the European Parliament, on Tuesday called for Arab League intervention in Syria "to stop the massacre".

"The Arab League can and should form a provisional government in Syria to stop the massacre, to prevent Syria from falling to pieces. The United Nations should support the Arab League to build an Arab force in blue helmets," he said.

In the first speech to the assembly by an Israeli head of state in almost three decades, Peres said the free world "cannot stand by when a massacre is carried out by the Syrian president against his own people and his own children."

"It breaks all our hearts."

"The intervention of Western forces would be perceived as a foreign interference," he said.

The Israeli leader, about to wind up an eight-day Europe tour taking in EU institutions as well as France, received a standing ovation from the 754-member parliament.

Saying Syrian President Bashar Assad was a threat to the entire region "and even for Europe" because he possessed a chemical arsenal, Peres said Arab League intervention was the best solution to prevent chemical weapons from falling into the wrong hands.

The fate of Assad's chemical arsenal was "a real problem", he said at a news conference immediately after the speech.

Hailing the European Union's feat in turning a continent at war into a continent at peace in six decades, Peres singled out Iran as the world's Number One enemy.

"The greatest danger to peace in the world is the present Iranian regime," he said, attacking Tehran not only for "aiming to build a nuclear weapon" but also for violating human rights by hanging people and discriminating against women.

The last Israeli head of state to address lawmakers from the bloc's then 10 nations was Chaim Herzog 28 years ago.

A Zionist telling the Arabs what to do. LoL.
Oh and Assad is a threat to the Europeans because he has chemical weapons. LoL. This monkey forgot he had 200 nuclear warheads in the Negev Desert which can obliterate the whole of Europe and the Mediterranean nations. Who is this Jew taking for a fool. He must of forgotten the Jews were wiped out by the Europeans. I would be careful what you threaten the Europeans with Mr Peres. The Europeans dont take threats from a Jew Lightly. Episodes between 1939 and 1943 should remind you well.

I'm not going to say god bless Peres but thank god he's reasonable enough every now and then!

Andre - Every now and then and when it fits his needs. The most dangerous wolves are those dressed in sheep clothings.

Missing helicopter 12 March 2013, 16:49

Yes he is the enemy and we expect him to be a wolf and worse. But the real problem is us (Arabs), we are (and this is how the world sees us too) beasts that eat our own new borns.

"Israeli warplanes conducted intense overflights over the towns of Bint Jbeil and Tyre before violating the airspace over Beirut."

Almost every day Israel shows it doesn't respect Lebanon's rights yet you defend them ... day after day ...

Mackinley. Where did you read that I defended them? You're hallucinating!

I said he was right, like most of us beleive except the terrorists and their apprentices.

We are terrorized from enemies that live within our walls, these enemies are the armed Hezbollah crap and the armed Palestinians.

If you don't get this, then you have a serious psychological problem.

All these years before Iran started nuclear experiment, where was the peace? As long the Israelis keep harassing the world to grant their wishes, there will never be peace.

Peres translation:

Hurry up and get rid of Assad so my friends Dick Cheney and Rupert Murdoch's company can drill for oil in the Golan ...

Missing lebcan 12 March 2013, 15:07

I rarely agree with you FT but on one point Crocodiles they are!, Yesterday these Zionist were saying that the 'terrorists' were becoming a real danger to Israel and the world should intervene in Syria (they sure enjoyed the fact Assad never fired a single shot at them in the Golan for 30+years)... Now they say its ASSad that is Slaughtering his own people (which is true) and they say there needs to be an Arab Intervention....
All you guys get the feeling that the Zionist are playing both sides of the coin to have us kill each other... Nothing new there...

Missing lebcan 12 March 2013, 15:07

Its really simple boys and girls... Iran (Leadership) helped the Americans get rid of Saddam Hussein, The Syrian Regime is (was) the Northern Israeli Protector and amongst other examples I really believe now Hizbshitan and Israel co-ordinated the exit of Israeli forces from the south back in 2000 for Hizbshitan to gain political power in lebanon to control as did Assad controlled Syria...and Finally just like 911 was 2006 was an orchestrated show war for lebanon... which also saw the UN become a resident in the south. Israel now, because of Hizbshitan, now feels safe.
Oh, and please who ever wants to criticize me for been an M14er (i am with reservations) I know that the GCC countries are as equally guilty of helping the Zionist.
There is the TRUTH (God know what it is) and then there is hypocrisy from EVERYWHERE which will fail.

ok, so Peres was wrong. newarly 80,000 died lately in syria from natural cause such as arab kombaya. everything is fine and dandy in the arab world who leads the world in freedom, human rights (excluding women of course, not to mention glbt). theres' not a single hungry arab and all have at least 1 PhD. finally iran supports hezbullah that is nothing more than an union of nurses

Please do not hope for a war Omar. Lebanon is not ready for one and we will have no real support from anyone.

Thumb LEBhasNOhope 12 March 2013, 16:08

shameless plug for justification of HA's weapon mowaten. No one will wage a war against us if we have strong, respectable state where the rule of law is applied to everyone. You stated earlier you are Lebanese first before are an M8er and anything else for that matter. Do you or do you not support the rise of state where everyone is equal under the rule of law and where no politician is immune from being held accountable for all the crap they are currently doing? is that not what a person who considers himself/herself Lebanese first would want to strive for?

Thumb bigsami 12 March 2013, 16:14

You mustool you need to go and get your head checked....preferably a vet because you are not mentally fit to make any comments here. Unfortunately your are sooooooooo freakin dumb and ignorant you still think we are dealing with the same HA that stood up against Israel back during the occupation/civil war. The HA you are dealing with now are violent assassinators, murders that have tattooed to their foreheads "Made in Iran". WAKE UP dude! The only support is HA....??? Seriously you are an idiot. They will destroy our country and use it as a battlefield for the sake of Iran!!!!!!!!!

Thumb LEBhasNOhope 12 March 2013, 22:54

Mowaten- If I have learned anything from history is that a state can only rise when weapons are under its control. I have learned that a militia will degrade a country to where weapons are rampant and gangsters are empowered to draw first blood with the army, where the militia doesn’t have allegiance to outside Lebanon first. You want to look at history? Try looking at what is happening without the rule of law today, yesterday, last week, last month, last year, last decade.

Well the Arabs in the Middle East have been killing each other as far as 2,000.00 B.C. or more. The Arabs don't need others to divide them. You can blame the West, and, if one day the west folds its arms, you're going to blame the East. And then who or what? Space aliens?
And by the way, I don't say this with bad intentions. It is what it is.

Default-user-icon JCWilliams (Guest) 12 March 2013, 20:37

Any of you Lebanese who agree with Peres while Isreal disrespects your borders daily and moves to steal your oil and gas are pathetic fools. If only Harari could get back in power and sell you all out then give you pennies on the dollars in bribes so you can lick his M14 boots and his Saudi benefactors boots and Isreali boots too. Weak minded fools . You have to blame Assad and Iran because your mothers didn't eat enough protein during pregnancy and then you must have been deprived of oxygen at birth. So it's not your fault you are so gloriously stupid. No doubt your parents think that you are wonderful since they were responsible for this startling lack of acumen.I pity you.

Thumb barbar 12 March 2013, 21:48

"The intervention of Western forces would be perceived as a foreign interference,"

And thus the hypocritical Zionist illustrates the great tragedy of Palestine from the Israeli perspective. 'All Arabs are the same, why don't they just go live with them?' For someone leading nation in the Middle East, shocking how little he understand the history and complexity of the many Arab peoples.

Missing VINCENT 12 March 2013, 22:51

I think they do, but they believe that they are "entitled" to that land unfettered by anyone who is not "God's People". So, the united Declaration of the Arab people, if exists, calls for the downfall of the Israeli State from the so called "Holly" land, why haven't the Arabs come together to achieve this goal or make some headway at least? Was it batter to have rolled out the red carpet for the despicable Yassir Arafat and his PLO, and put Lebanon in the middle of the cross fire? I think not, and those who were responsible, Arabs included, never cared about the Palestinians. So why should the Jews care as long as they are given an opportunity to build the so called "God's Kingdom".

Missing VINCENT 12 March 2013, 22:51

Or, if the "complete" ouster of the Jews from the "Holly" land is not what the Arabs want (now with oil money coming out of their ears), how come the Arabs have not come to some kind of a compromise with the Jews but, instead, allow non-Arabs, Persians and the West alike, dictate what goes on in your homes and backyards. Who should you really shame or blame? I would examine the so called Arab leaders.

Thumb music66 13 March 2013, 08:22

Isn't it a bit too late two years too late. I mean thousands have already perished on both sides, the borders have been crossed with fighting as well. I wonder what has Israel got to gain from Peres speech. He may have received a standing ovation but had he stated, Instead that Israel is going to give Palestinians back their land so that all Palestinians can leave neighboring countries such as Lebanon, Jordan etc and return go back to their home in Palestine and leave countries like Jordan and Lebanon in peace I would have given him a standing ovation. But he didn't his concern has come a little too late.

DUH! Since FDR’s time ALL US Presidents, bar none, were converts from Judaism, married to Jewesses or had Jew blood! Congress at 80% Jew is worse! Jew-run Imperial US Military used WMD-s on ALL COUNTRIES which disagreed with the INHUMAN US Foreign Policy that shields Genocide-Committing CHOSEN Israel by casting one more of the great majority of UN Vetoes since 1972! US savaged most countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America banana republics and Island nations. US WMD-s includes atomic bombs, incendiary, napalm, white phosphorous, chemical (chlorine & Agent Orange), nail-cluster, land mines, nuclear-clad bunker buster and armor-piercing, enhanced satellite-guided bombs etc. Barbaric Israel did worse & actually loaded in 1967 nuclear (courtesy of US) bombs to drop on Syria and Egypt if the $80 billion weapons to Israel by Jew LBJ failed in its PRE-EMPTIVE 6-Day War! Israel routinely sends its MOSSAD Agents to assassinate anybody who dares to criticize its atrocities, including US. Enough!
