The U.N. Security Council expressed "grave concern" Thursday over cross-border attacks between Syria and Lebanon in a rare united declaration on the Syrian conflict.

The 15-member body, bitterly divided over the Syrian conflict, expressed "deep concern" over the fallout from the Syrian conflict on stability in Lebanon, in a statement released after closed talks.

Council members "underscored their grave concern over repeated incidents of cross-border fire which caused death and injury among the Lebanese population, incursions, abductions and arms trafficking across the Lebanese-Syrian border, as well as other border violations."

The statement was read to reporters by Russia's U.N. envoy Vitaly Churkin. Moscow has joined Beijing in blocking three resolutions aiming to step up pressure on President Bashar Assad to halt the conflict.

The Security Council "underlined the importance of full respect for Lebanon's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity."

It also expressed "deep concern at the impact of the Syrian crisis on Lebanon's stability."

Council members "appealed to all Lebanese people to preserve national unity in the face of attempts to undermine the country's stability and stressed the need for all Lebanese parties to respect Lebanon's policy of disassociation and to refrain from any involvement in the Syrian crisis," the statement added.

Syria started by shelling into Lebanon numerous times. the Hezz led gov't did nothing and would not allow the army there. Then the Hezz poured over the border to help the ailing giraffe. Now it is out of control.....by the way where exactly is the border? Oh I remember the Hezz and ASSad won't let it be marked.

Again as I always mention, its another explanation that keeps the Israelis in Lebanon (Shiba Farms)... Hezz and ASSad are USA and Israeli Traitors... in Cahoots with Iran.
its A Big Game boys and Girls.
WAR and/or FEAR is $$$$$$ keeping it up in the Middle east with each Leadership placing fear in there own supporters... and who makes me really sick its the stupid sheep that defend their masters at any retarded cost.

us/un/nato/isriel controlled by multinational corporations & dependant on increasing levels of economic globalization. Why would they be interested in stopping a conflict that engages the remaining soveriegn challenges to their continued success. If I were them I would do what ever was necessarry to prolong the conflict zz& maximize the damage / cost to the parties involved.
